Default 82 920 Virago Valves

I recently aquired an 82 Virago and I changed everything that's routine. The bike runs great and it's everything i expected except for a ticking in the top rear cylinder. It ticks with the rev of the engine. I can almost pinpoint the noise by putting my ear close to the head. Does a valve adjustment help calm the noise or should I just live with it. If I do need to adjust the valves can someone please tell me the specs (intake and exhaust). Thank You.

Time to by the manual. For $30 you might get an answer.

Let's start with the simple. How old is the oil? An oil change just might quiet that valve. You could be the 1st where that strategy works.

When that doesn't work, get the manual and see if you really want to adjust the valves. Usually, a ticking valve has gotten that way due to wear and the 0.015 - 0.020" clearance is something like 0.050" (your experience will vary).

You'll look at the service manual, and invariably determine "when it goes, it goes." Which will give the ideal reason to get a different bike and somebody else gets a "project bike." Win-win, I like to say.
