Default VMAX Oil Pressure Light?

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a used vmax and I'm a bit weary about a flickering oil pressure light. The bike has had quite a few modifications.

The gentleman that i'm buying it from suggests it's a pretty normal issue, but I just wanted to make sure.

When the Vmax accelerates, the oil pressure light will flicker on. I guess the oil is shifting to the rear of the bike. Is this common on the bike? Does this indicate that it may have some leaking issues? or something blown out? Any advice out there?

Thanks

Yes, that is correct; it means what he says....it is an issue, but not a problem. If your light comes on when your at a constant rpm or idle - then you have an issue. BE SURE TO LET THIS BIKE WARM UP, BEFORE GETTING ON THE THROTTLE.
Note; It is not a pressure indicator but rather a fluid level sensor. A back up for lazy people who don't check the window. Don't add oil thinking that it is low - that's what the view window is for.

Go ahead if you think you can add extra oil and not blow any seals or O rings! Don't say you were not warned.

I owned one for several years. When ya get on the throttle, the oil will slosh to the back and cause the low oil light to flicker on. If you don't want it to flicker, don't get on it.
This bike can be a lot of fun but it is a bomb also. Don't get stupid with it because it can get out of hand in a blink of an eye.

I have a V-max and initially was concerned with the red oil light blinking. The mechanic told me that the cylinder the oil goes through for the sensor is small and when you lay on the throttle, it can't get through the opening quick enough. This causes the light to come on. All the V-Maxs do this! If the light comes on at regular running or idle, then you have a problem!

PS The only problem that I am having with my bike (2005 VMax) right now is that the battery is too small. My friend is trying to find me a better battery to replace the stock one! The VMax needs alot of juice to turn over the motor!

While that's not a bad idea, maybe the battery is just old and weak ??

A lot of stock/standard batteries have a useful life or 3 years or so.

Unless you have added electrical accessories, the "stock" battery is probably more than enough.........until it starts to wear out.

My V-Max's battery was always enough to start it. Never felt the need to increase the size.

Default My mistake!

Wrote awhile back that had to change the battery on my VMax because it was too small. Meant to say it tends to run hot and the battery dries up on me. Live in south texas and seems it is always hot. replaced battery with a maintenance free battery and have had no problems since!
