Default Front to rear tread depth

So I'm still trying to get around my tire wear woes. I went dark cause the rear Metz 880's were giving me about 12,000 kms (7,500 mi). Now The fronts are giving me 20,000 (12,500), so not quite getting thru a season.

Some of you may be aware that the tire mfgr's have signed off on using rears on the front if you reverse the directional arrow when mounting the tire. So I've gone and done it.

I don't have a new front to check against, but measuring the tread depth at the outer edge of the used metz I get about 0.107"( I don't think this edge has seen much wear cause the bike just doesn't lean that far). The new "rear" gives about 0.212". In the center of the tire the depth is a whopping 0.294".

Does anyone have a new 880 to check the tread depth on?

I believe I may have just doubled the mileage between tire changes, and WOW, does that deep tread give an agressive look.
