Cool Meanstreaks Where -r-u!!!!

I have not been on hear in quite a while. Good to see that the forum did not delete me. I reconize a few names on here still. drgibson good to see your still hear.. Looking forward to meeting up with you and your family again soon. Missed you on the last MJ ride in Gatlynberg, TN. IT was a blast.

Now, where are all the meanstreak riders? where have you all gone. Did you trade in, sell, or what?

I still have mine and I am here to tell you that the 03 meanstreak 1500 still has it's meanstreak. You can ask the GSXR 1300 Hybusa that followed me in the mountains this past June. Not doggin the Hybusa by no means, it def. has its reputation. It's just that I ride my meanie like a sportsbike. I have had many people tell me they have never seen someone ride a cruiser the way I do. That is why I bought the meanstreak. It has the sport supension of the ninja in the front with a 130x55x17 dunlop d220 with a soon to be 180x55x17 rear dunlop d220. It's a sports crusier for sure. I have put some bling into it as well. It is an all around great bike. Never had a single problem out of it. I have 2 1/2 in hard crome shorties on it and never had to rejet or get a dyno for it. I would recommend the hardcrome pipes to all meanie owners, because they give the meanie a very deep, throaty sound and when it is at idle people wonder if I have put in a new cam. and when the trottle is open it just adds to the meanness. This baby still rides like i just bought it of the show room floor. I bought it in july o5 and have almost 19000 miles on it and thanks to the self adjusting valves no maintance other than reg oil changes and lubes. And of course tires. I go through tires about once a year.

In short I love my meanie.

I have a meanie too. It's the 2005, black and chrome, and rides/runs like a dream. Great bike for sure. However, I've ridden it in the mountains, and quite honestly prefer my Suzuki vs800 for curves. Maybe the shorter wheelbase, or weight, or something (?) makes it better for that. I dunno. But - I love both bikes. I wish I could get to the point that you are on the meanie. I'd like to see what it'd do in the curves. I thought it'd be better too (as you indicated), and I had planned to use that as my ONLY bike. Maybe someday. But for now- I'll just keep both. (actually kinda handy while I was waiting for new tires for my meanie - had a great bike to ride during that time).

Default meanstreak

tigerdude77, thanks for the response. I was beginning to think I was the only meanstreak owner on here. Its nice to know someone else out there has great taste in an awsome bike.

Default Newbi, exhaust question

Hello All:

I am a recent owner of a 2002 Kaw MS 1500. I absoulty love the bike. bought it from the original owner with extreemly low miles. My question is for everyone is that I am looking at removing the Baffles in the stock exhaust and was wondering how to go about doing that? Also, what is that can under the bike that the exhaust goes into, a muffler? Can that be removed without harming performance?

anyways, Presently stationed out here in Hawaii, and if you have never been out here the best way to see any of the islands is to take a bike. No helmet law out here, Recomend it to anyone to ride out here in Hawaii. Well thanks for any of the info. will keep posting.

Hey man. I do not have a Meanstreak but I know Blackhole's bike fairly well. I assume the can you are referring to is some sort of emissions deal sorta like a catalytic converter. I had one on my '04 Intruder 1500LC and when I changed the pipes to the Hard Chromes it went away. Did not affect the bike much except I had to re-jet the dealer said. Although I am not 100% convinced it needed to be done.

I did lose some backpressure which will affect the torque of the bike. If yo remove the baffles expect to lose some back pressure as well and gain alot of noise. That loss of backpressure will affect your performance on the bike.

If you can anty up the money for pipes just buy some pipes. That way if you ever decide to sell it then you can offer the stock pipes. Plus I can tell you that Kelley has mentioned to me several times that as much as he loves his pipes after a long road trip he keeps thinking about going back to the stock pipes due to the noise. Might want to leave that option open versus messing up the stock pipes.

Jammer, sorry dude. I have been away for a while.
I have a fire engine red color. I have stripped all the vulcan emblems off and the kawasaki on the side covers. I left the streak decal on the tank because it is under the clear coat.

devildocmongo, instead of removing the baffles in the stock pipes, I recommend buying after market. I have both. I went back to my stock pipes after 3 1/2 yrs and road 2,200 miles with them. That ride was in the mountains and east coast riding. Even though it was quite and enjoyable, I did loose low end torque and horse power. I kept finding myself going over the red line and overspeeding the motor. It's a wonder I did not blow my motor up. Needless to say, I went back to my aftermarket pipes, 2 1/2 in Hard Crome shorties. Got my torque and horse power back and now I just wear earplugs.
I did not need a dyno jet or fuel controller for them. All I did was put the pipes on and the stock computer has made the adjustments just fine. I have almost 30k on mine now.

rkr0923, I know how you feel man. We are the few who own them and they just do not make any after market parts for them. Kawasaki will discontinue this bike after this year. It is a shame because they are such great bikes and fun to ride. I saw about 4 meanstreaks down at biketoberfest this year including mine. What does that tell ya? We better take care of ours. lol

You have a great looking 07.
