From the 900 owners i talked to the overwhelming majority didnt like the result of "de-baffling"

most complained of a "Tinny" sound and some even stated that it made the bike run rich...

I personally would go aftermarket and if i were to de-baffle i wouldnt use it as a long term solution

but to each their own that's just me

Most people that have done the debaffling seem to like it. they recomend you do it in stages and some regret going to far with it. With that said, my dealer recommended I dont do it because it would have a "tinty" exhaust note that sounds like garbage. If your on a budget and want some sound it might be worth a try. Personally Im on the fence about it.

I did my wifes 900 a couple weeks ago. She, like me, hates to have to count gear changes or "test" what gear she's in. (We live out of town and do too much highway to not be able to hear what the motor is doing)

4 - 1/2" holes in each baffle and the pikes punch was as far as I went, believing the tinnyness would come from the complete de-baffle. I think it sounds nice and so does she. So that's all that matters, right?

Maybe next summer new pipes for the "real" sound with an air kit and controller, but htis was a good budget move IMO.

I also opted for drilling 6 holes, but not total debaffle. Sounds good to me, much deeper which is what I wanted. Somebody has to explain this whole "tinny/tinty" thing to me.

There are lots of sound clips on YouTube.
