Anyone have any good info on the Vulcan 500? I'm looking at buying a used one, but am not sure which year is "best". I'd like to know any common issues with the 500, or anything particularly important about them? etc.

I just love the way they look...

The Vulcan 500 gets good reviews all around. My sister bought one this spring, she loves it. I rode it about 20 miles myself, and thought it was a well mannered bike with better than average power. You get A LOT FOR THE MONEY, water cooled engine that is nearly identical to the Ninja 500's, a six speed gearbox, nice looks and ergonomics. They have remained largely unchanged for several years, so any good deal on one is a good deal!

Great, that's what I like to hear! Just making sure they didn't have any intermittent problems within the design. The exposed shocks are a bit odd, but I've read they are very convenient to adjust on the fly, simply use a screwdriver and adjust...no getting around plastic or needing to remove hardware.
