I am very happy that you like Vulcans. I like some Vulcans, although I am not a fan of the Vulcan 800. I'm thinking that the new Vulcan 900 my kick butt though....

My next bike? I'll say Vulcan 1600 Nomad at this point, tune back in a couple years and we'll see.

My son and I were looking at a used 1500 Meanstreak the other day, it was really cool looking. But I think I would strongly consider the Nomad when i have a few years of riding under my belt. I got the M50 because I didn't want anything too big after a twenty year lay off !

my friend just bought a vulcan 2000 about 2 weeks ago. that is one BIG bike for a pretty standard cruiser. very wide stance, low center of gravity, belt driven, 200 rear tire...its quite a good looking machine and supposedly the 2nd fastest production cruiser....

i havent had a chance to ride it yet, not sure i want to with it this new, but i will one day.

he put the V&H Powershots on it with adjustable baffles...SWEET sound!!

1993 VN1500 Vulcan, best bike for all day riding I ever owned.

I could leave the house at 10:00 am & come home at midnight with minimal pains.

When I buy another steel horse to put in my stable it will more than likely be another Vulcan.

Just scored a new leftover '04 Vulcan vn2000, sweet! It's that sort of root beer brownish-maroon color, that reminds me of the old man's '73 903 z1, which I happily rode the crap out of as a young feller....

This 2000 is quite the bike, and I only have ridden it the day I got it two weeks ago. Out of town trip and bad weather have conspired against riding since

Love the looks of the naked bike, though I'll be putting the factory 15" high windscreen on it.... Too dangerous to ride these freeways without one, always stuff flying up off the road to smack you in the face....And these Texas bugs must be on steroids, they're huge!

I'll get some pics posted next good sunny day.... and get some more miles on her....

I envy you Vulcan riders. Always wanted one, but the 800 didnt suit my tastes so I chose the Suzuki M50 to start. Plan on getting the 1600 classic or Meanstreak within the next couple of years. The M50 is my first bike, so I feel experience is necessary before I move to a bigger bike. Makes me feel good when I see guys like Texrider who owns the M50 and a Vulcan.

Texrider

How much of a difference is the handling between your M50 and the V2K? I know there is a weight difference and of course the power, but just curious about the difference between the two.

I'll start with what is similar about them. They both have a big bike feel, with long wheelbases and steering head angles. The M50 has a sure footed feel, with it's large tires and weight. Both have a fairly low center of gravity, and do not fatigue you with their mass. Good riding positions and appropriate spring rates make them a delight.

The power separates them sharply, with twice the horsepower and three times the torque going to the V2K.

The sheer size of the Vulcan makes it a unique experience to all of your sensory inputs, mostly just a super sized version of a great bike like the M50. You feel as though it can conquer pretty much any challenge you might encounter.

The M50 is more nimble at lower speeds, of course. The Vulcan is more stable at higher speeds, and in crosswinds.

I sold my VMax with 2,500 miles on it to get the Vulcan, but kept the M50.....

Actually, I was going to buy either the M95 or a Mean Streak, then decided nothing less than the 2000 would do it for me.

I just traded in my M50 today for a Vulcan 1600. I really liked my M50 around town, but it was buzzy on the interstate. The 1600 floats along at 70 mph like its nothing.
