Default stebel nautilus install

... I bought my husband a stebel nautilus and we decided to put it on for him...LOL. took the better part of a day but we learned a lot about the VTX. Stebel recommends moutning the relay near the battery but I put it up in the headlight shell. With a wiring diagram it was not too hard... turns out most of the connectors are up behind the headlight anyway. The light green wire from the horn button is there in the black 6 pole connector....GRIN. Once you figure all that out the hardest part is making a mounting bracket that doesnt hit the front wheel (still working on that). With an engine guard it doesnt look like it can fit where the the old one goes at all...so we have to find a bracket to hang it from the engine guard. After we get that done we will post pics.
sounds very loud.. but not as deep pitched as we thought it was going to be.
yeah, I know...

What a coincidence - I installed my Stebel Nautilus today on my S50 - took me about 2 hours. There's not a lot of room on the S50 to install it - I ended up mouting it down below the radiator, pointing forward and slightly down, hose clamped to the highway bars/lower frame.
The relay is bolted to where the old horn was - so I wouldn't have to mess with too many wires.
From the relay I ran a wire under the gas tank and seat to the +ve accesory terminal in the fuse box.
The ground and horn switch plugged right into the relay with the existing female blade connectors.
I ran another wire from the +ve on the horn to the relay, behind the radiator.
For the -ve Gnd I ran under the frame, to the -ve accessory terminal in the fuse box.

Dang this thing is loud!!

Default finally a pic of the stebel nautilus

....my husband's VTX has been "dehorned" for weeks now waiting for a backordered Kuryakin clamp for his 1.5 inch dia engine bars.... so I went out to a muffler shop and got a U clamp... and I may as well say this before Landry beats me to it... now he can get horny whenever he wants
.

Ha ha showed this to my wife as a reason as to why I should get some engine bars (ie for freeway pegs and the horn) but she just saw the word horny and went "Typical!"
But glad you showed the pic as I was wondering where to put the horn. (So to speak)

Bodie... lol...but man you need engine guards for heavens sake. You may be a great rider but the crash risks are very real even so. If that bike goes down without bars on it the damage will be much greater...including your legs....
I know about this one, I did a low side crash and destroyed the engine guards but they saved my left leg from serious damage.

Annie
PS.. I like my Cobra bars.. hopefully I wont have to buy a third set !
this pic is before my footpegs and iso grips went on...

Hey Annie, Did your hubby ever get the p-Clamps? if not, here's an alternative (sorry for not seeing your post sooner!).... pepsX Products

You may also want to check out Dan's Pepsx stand for working on the bikes...you hubby will love you for it! I got mine for my B-day and even use it to detail the scooters.

Later gator,
C'Dude

I bought my stebel from bikerhiway. They include a wiring kit in their price. I got a chrome one for about 46.00. I love mine

Cdude... thx....
I cant imagine the horn mounted "under the swingarm..".??? Anybody have a picture of that? sounds like a terrible place for this !
And the answer is "no" we still havent got the &%$#@ P clamps....but the temporary clamp is working fine....and my hubby is having fun pretending he is a truck...LOL.
(Also, this horn is not as loud on the bike as I thought it would be...it is better than stock by a long shot...but ....)

Check Dan's site and/or email him - pretty sure he's got some. If not, have hubby check out VTXOA.com for some pix, there's a bunch there....even put a pix request on the General discussion board for you.

Thanks .. I told my husband... he is on some big VTX forum... I will let him follow up. Actually it works great where it is....and it is DONE finally....LOL... so I doubt we will move it. This location is VERY close to the connectors for the horn button up in the headlight case...so the wiring job was a snap.
