Default Speedometer freaked Out

Hi All,

I had a strange thing happen with my speedometer today on my 06 1300R. I was going down the freeway doing about 70 mph when all of a sudden my speedo needle dropped from indicating 70 to about 20 and then right back to 70 again. This only took a second. The engine did'nt cut out and the bike never slowed. I rode for another hour with the speedo working normally. Has anybody else had this happen and does any one know what would cause this.

Ride Safe

Maybe a static charge or something disrupted the signal. It's electronic (as opposed to gear-driven), right?

Check your battery cables....especially the negative connection. X's are famous for the connections loosening up. Mine did the same thing, now I check the connections about every other month.

Unless and until it does it again, I wouldn't worry about it.
My CAR does that about twice a year, both tach and speedo flip around just like when you first turn on the key.
Might be a "reboot" due to some kind of error.

Thanks for the replys
I haven't found any loose connections and I've been riding without the speedo going crazy since so I guess I'll just leave it alone.

Ride safe

It sounds like a grimmlen. I am telling you, "GET SOME ONE TO BUY YOU A GRIMMLEN BELL" and then hang it on your bike. It will keep them grimmlens off you bike.
