| I have noticed that my C50 makes a kinda "clunking" noise every time I upshift. I don't really notice it when I downshift and I don't remember my old Yamaha making this noise (of course that was 25 years ago and there is a lot I don't remember from back then |

| Mine was a little noisy, but not bad, for the first couple thousand miles. It quieted down some, but there's still definite audible confirmation of the gear change (got out my thesaurus

| Thanks Bud. I will sleep better knowing it isn't anything to worry about. I only have 1200 miles so maybe it will stop or at least get less noisy...or maybe I will get used to it. Thanks again.

| You ever hear a Harley shift into first ?? KA-KLUNK !!! (and the rest of the shifts aren't much better) I had a Buell before my C50 and it had a Harley tranny, you woulda thought it was gonna drop out of the bike. As for the C50, it's quite a bit quieter than the Harley tranny and with more miles on it it will settle down. I have 900 miles on mine, and at just about 700 or so the whole package started to settle in quite nicely. Now she seems smooth as butter! Kinda don't want to bring her in next week for the first service and mess anything up.

| Thanks everyone for the info on my clunking noise...I feel much better about it now. I have never riden a Harley so I haven't really heard one of those. By the way Pirate Morgan, when you take your bike in for 1st service, keep an eye on the temperature of your rear brakes when you get it back. The techs sometimes adjust them a little tight and when they heat up the shoes ride on the inside of the drum and burn the drum. It happened to me and several others on the forum have reported a similar experience. Just something to keep in mind.

| I noticed the clunking shift as soon as I got my C50 and immediately asked my dealer about it. Answer - "they all do". I have noticed an interesting point though. If I use the toe shifter for upshifting there's no clunking. I don't know enough about the mechanics to guess why but it's a possible solution when the sound gets to you.

| That is very interesting...I don't understand it but it is still interesting and I will try it the next time I am out riding (probably tomorrow since I am about to go to work and it looks like rain).

| I've been a passenger on a 1994 Harley Low Rider. for the past 2 years..the Zuki makes noise but it's like comparing a cheerleader to a SOCCER MOM at a game. The Low Rider shifts LOUD!!! (now boyz don't get started with the "yea your soccer mom made noise last night when I was with her) |

| 300 miles. Not broken in yet. I just had my second service today 4,000 miles since mid June, and there are lots here who put on more miles than me. Try blipping your throttle to ease the shift. Don't dump the clutch. Practice. Ride and enjoy. |
