Default bike + rain

It's been raining lately and I have not ridden my bike (I really want to though). I'm not worried about riding in the rain, in regaurds to me getting wet or the handeling of the bike or anything like that. ..... i'm worried about getting the bike wet..... should I be worried about getting the bike wet? .... is it a PITA to clean afterwards, will it hurt anything?

thanks! I kinda figured it would be a pain to wash .... lots of crevices and what not for dirt and grim to get into. .... i'll have to do a search for how folks clean their bikes, maybe get some tips.

Some people have spotless bikes, other people ride their bikes.

Well said tlwisner.

I don't mind the rain but there is one problem I have with it. I CAN'T SEE. I can look over the windsheild but the rain gets all over my glasses and of course if I duck under the windsheild it is hard to see through that. Any tips from the veterans to this newbie.

This year at Americade there was a vendor selling gloves that had a tiny little wiper blade built in to the index finger.

Ride fast enough and the wind'll blow the water off.LOL

Actually, I haven't found it to be that a big a problem, I clean my windshield with plexus, seems to leave a coating that repels water and my glasses do the same. I may flip my visor up to keep the water out of my range of vision from time to time but not an issue really.

Since you can only use one wiper at a time, I will take the red one.

My gloves have a squeegee built-in. And for the record, this will be the first time today I'll ride in tha rain in 65 days of consecutive coming in to work on my bike. It hasn't rained on me in that time but today, I'll get wet, well actually no, my rain suit will get wet. I plan to ride until there's frost on the streets.

Hey Louis .... I spent a week in Ottawa last year on vacation. Loved the bicycle trails and Gatineau Hills Park !! It has been an awesome summer in the Northeast, just wish I had my C50 earlier in the season !!!

The Gatineau Park is great. Although currently, a lot of deers hav started showing. We've have a beautiful copper SV that got trashed because a deer ran into it in the Gats... If you come back, let me know.

Default Rain Is No Problem

My first day on the C50T, I rode 174 miles, on the way home I got caught in a Thunder Storm, my 1st thought was to stop and wait it out, but there was no shelter anywhere so I kept on riding (I forgot to bring my rain gear, but did have full riding gear and a helmet) I drove through heavy rain, severe winds and even pea sized hail (that hurt the fingers a little), at first I felt a little uncomfortable and kept the speed to about 42 mph, but after a few miles I noticed I was riding at 56 mph, I rode 16 mi in that storm, put it in the garage and the next morining washed it, I didn't find it difficult at all to clean!

A gazillion years ago in Germany I had a pair of gloves that had a suede left thumb. It was designed to wipe across your shield to clear the water. Worked pretty well as I recall. Another option.
