Default Highway (crash) bars

I'm new to this forum and just started riding after a 10 year absence. I just recieved some LINDBY bars and the installation instructions said that they are not designed to "provide leg or vehicle protection in the event of a fall at any speed". I guess my question is how can a company market a product as an engine guard and then put a disclaimer on their product.

This is my first cruiser (all the others were sport bikes) and I must say I love the bike.

The lawyers make them do it. The fact is that in a zero speed drop or a low speed dump, most bars will provide excellent protection. One drunk guy dumping his bike at 80 mph can cost a manufacturer a lot of legal fees and settlement money.

I put the MCE bars on my C50. I have not tested them, but they are very sturdy bars. I think they're a good idea on cruisers - just as sliders are a good idea on sportbikes.

Welcome to the forum, and enjoy that C50, it's a great bike.

Hi where can I find bars that fit my C50?I now have Suzuki engine gaurds which look ok, but are a joke ,Im afraid, in case of a crash. I had ordered the full size bars from M C Industries, but they wouldnt fit, do to having floorboards instead of footpegs. Then, that cost me to ship them back. Been to many sites, but all I can seem to find are the ones I already tried. Help, anyone? Thanks

I found the Lindby bars at cruisercustomizing.com. The site is set up nice, you put in make, model of your bike and it lists all the accessories that will fit that particular bike. The bars are more expensive than regular engine guards but they went on in about 15 min and look great.

It's the legal situation, thanks to the advertising lawyers searching for stooges. We're in a world now where you basically have to dislaim any suitability for any situation. If I say crash guards and you crash and hurt yourself, then maybe I lied and was responsible for misleading you into thinking thinking my crash guards would protect you. Anyhow, sturdy or not, don't rely on crash guards for anything more than to help a bike lay down at zero speed. They will bend or break if you rely on them to protect from impact at speeds as little as 5mph.

I used two washers on each side of the floorboards for spacers, and the MCE bars work great for me on my C50.

The passenger floorboards you have are OE?. How do you like them? Do you have a close up? It works great that we have the same color. We must have good taste.
That should get me in trouble.

Yeah, the passenger floorboards are the Boulevard parts. They cost too much, but my GF likes them, and the big Mustang backrest pad. Blue/Black C50s rule.

I bought mine from www.OneidaSuzuki.com - some pretty good deals on C50 stuff there.

FLoorboards came with the bike. Could almost struggle to get the bars from M C Industries on but couldnt quite do it, talked to tech support there, and he claimed thay didnt come with floorboards .I told him it set in the showroom with boards on it already. Didnt do any good to argue, so sent them back. S F
