Talking C50 noise

Hi Love my new bike, but does anyone experience a whistling nise, also ticking noise coming from what sounds like the front of the bike? I know, youll say its the wind in my ears, but am a little paranoid about this and hate to take it to dealer if its nothing. Has about 8oo miles on it, and it seems to run ok, but Im no bike expert, or mechanic, and would like to know if any of you folks experience similar noise? Just seems like can hear all this over the sweet soundas of the exaust. Thanks for any help. P S Any Skynyrd fans here?? Doug B.

How long have you been noticing this noise ? From day one ? Or has it developed since new ?

Before I got my pipes installed I could hear the fuel pump whistling all the time. weeeeeeeeeeee constantly. And the engine may have a little tick untill you take it in to have the valves inspected. Mine ticked a little bit at first too. Also check for any loose cables that may be flapping in the wind. Do the sounds only apear at a certain mph range?

Fuel pump? Never thought of that. had the valves adjusted at 700 miles. The guy claims some of them were tight, but I swear I heared them ticking before, and still ,after supposed adjustment. Maybe its not the valves I hear, like I said, Im no mechanic, and hate to tie up the bike at the shop for nothing, but still , I wonder if it was really checked and adjusted, or am I just that untrusting? Does anyone else feel the same as me as far as trusting the people who maintain your ride?
The sounds are constant, unless you pull in the clutch and coast, which Ive tried just to check out where these sounds come from. That weeeeeeee you described, Mr. R. is kinda what it sounds like though. Thanks all

skynyrd fan....really odd ithat I read your post this eve.... I took my bike in to service at dealer today for the same noise.... first noticed this on and off for several weeks after i bought the bike...we took a long weekend trip this past weekend and sounds became more pronounced.... dealer said it was the fuel pump....they went over the bike and took it for a ride, thought the mechanic was never comming back(over 45 min)...final results were::nothing wrong, normal sounds.....so i was quite releaved even though the bike is warranteed.......the sounds were just as you described .... later ....rabbit

Mine will still tick a little bit if I don't let it warm up first. Say I warm it up and take it out for a while, then I let it sit. Then if I get back on it, start it and go it makes a racket. So I don't do that anymore. Now I let it warm up a bit more and dont have the problem.

Or it might be the fuel injectors clicking.

Ok thanks for the info, Rabbit. Guess Im just nervous about problems that probably dont exsist. Never know though, just cause its new doesnt mean there cant be problems. My first new car was an 84 ford tempo, biggest headache in my life, but talked to people who owned them and loved them, so you get a bad one now and the.
Anyway------why the #%&!#$*&*&^ and I rattling on about cars?? Later

Mine also has the ticking sound. I had the 600 mile service done to include the valve adjustment a few weeks ago and it still makes the ticking sound. The dealer told me that it was normal. The one thing I do notice is that the ticking is more prevalent (louder) at the 60 MPH/ RPM range; any slower or faster it’s a lot quieter. This leads me to believe there's something vibrating in the front just under the tank and radiator area. But I haven’t figured out what it may be.

I too have the whistling noise, I am guessing that mine is coming from the wind adn the windshiled/headlight assamably...I'n not to worried as I only hear it over about 65mph.

Those of you who has the values adjusted probably hear the values clicking. Probably normal. This bike has mechanical values. A little clicking should be ok. There is a little gap in there so it will click. The reason you didn't hear it before is because they were probably too tight.

that makes sense, because my ticking would not always change with the RPM or get louder.
