Default What windshield?

I am looking at a (national Dakota 4.5mm) for my 04 Volusia any tips ? anybody have a similar windshield ? the height is 18.5 inches of the top of the light do you think it is big enough 80% riding alone 20% 2 up riding do you think it will be ok for the passenger will it cut the wind a bit? I got lots of questions but I am new at this juste bought my volusia 04 in Feb. been riding it since mid april have only 840km on it so far.

Selecting a windhsield is tough. You actally have to sit on it to see how it fits. And it also depends on how tall you are. I have a OEM Suzuki windshiled so I dont know anyting about the one your talking about. I can measure mine tonight and tell you how tall it is but I dont know how much that will help. Because once you get it installed it will have to be adjusted to your hight.

When you adjust it, you want to be able to see over the top of it. So if it rains or gets covered in bugs you can still see where your going. Right now mine is adjusted that if I look out to the horizon when I ride. The top of the windshiled is about paralell between my nose and my upper lip. That way I can also duck down If I want to. (just my personal preferance)

If you set it too low the wind blast will hit you in the top of your helmet and whip your head arround. Even after you get it set to where you think it needs to be. If you go out and ride it you may find it needs to be adjusted again.

Hope that helps.

And if you have been riding without a windshield. ANY windshiled will cut down the wind A LOT!!! I rode 300 miles before I installed mine. it was brutal. It takes a real man to ride down the highway without one. And to me a windshield is worth every penny.

I didn't want to put a windshield on my volusia don't like the looks of it but after I tried one of my friends maurauder with a windshield and felt the difference I suddenly start liking the way it looks.

I didnt like the looks of them either till I rode one weekend without one. That wind blast is brutal. I like how it looks now.

Got my windshield installed it exactly at the height Mr. resistable recommended it was perfect height for me thanks a million man what a difference. It makes the ride that much more fun not having to fight against that wind.

I just bought the Suzuki windhield and love it. I did some research on the Cruiser.com website before buying mine. The Cruiser.com website is a great resource and have a lot of good articles. Here's the link for the windshield article.
