| Hello all! I see a lot of comments about the K&N filter. Do they really enhance the performance of your bike that much? I will pick up my new C50T tomorrow and expect to ride two up often. Is this something I should consider, if so, where is the best place to buy? Thanks. Jason |

| Forensic Bug Splatter Analyst. ![]() | I use a K&N on my gixxer. It helps, but mainly I like to clean and reinstall it, rather than always buying paper filters. I do a lot of miles and it just works for me.

| I run a K&N in my 04 Volusia... I rejetted the carb when I put it in and have much more power now. With the FI on your bike you may need to reprogram the FI in order to see any difference. One point of caution.... Many bikes are set up to run lean from the factory in order to meet emission standards. Adding a high performance air cleaner will make the bike run leaner. Running a bike lean can burn up the valves which would be a MAJOR repair bill. Just my opinion here but...... I would suggest unless you are rejetting/reprogramming for more power... that you may be better off running the stock filter and replacing it every couple years. The vol owners manual calls for replacement at 11,000 miles/36 months. The price of the stock filter is about half of the price of the K&N ($25 vs $50). So assuming you change it at 11k and 22k then it would be your 33k change where it started costing you more money. |
