I think I know the answer to this question, but I figure that I would post it just the same. During a several day trip last week, my high beam headlight filament blew. I still had the low beam, so I used that until I found a shop. Once there, all they had were 100/55W H4 bulbs instead of the recommended 60/55W H4. I bought one and put it in. I really like to ride with the high beam on but I am now worried about running the high beam with this new bulb given the extra heat it will be putting out. What are the true dangers of running the hotter bulb? I guess the most obvious one is the chance that the fuse will blow (hopefully before the wires melt), is there any others? I have a new 60/55W bulb coming in a few days, but it got me wondering. |
