| I've been thru the head buffeting scene before with Yamaha V Stars fitted with OEM windshields, so I knew what to do with the same problem popping up on my new C50, fitted with the Suzuki shield. As we all know Suzuki don't do C50 lowers, so I had a pair of Custom World chrome lowers shipped "Down Under" by Valu Accessories (four days-not bad for half way around the world). What a difference! Head buffeting has almost (if not completely) disappeared. I now sit in a cocoon of still air. These things should come standard with the windshield.

| Give him time, he is most likely still in bed. It is tomorrow there, so if he posts right now we will have to wait a day to see it. LOL

| Yes, it is tomorrow here, but I long for yesterday (LOL). I'll get a pic up shortly, but it's a sunny spring day today, and I'm going out riding in the country to fully test the lowers. I also installed the OEM engine bars at the same time, just for looks.

| Well, I might have been a bit hasty in my original post about how effective the chrome Custom World lowers are in reducing head buffeting. 800 miles later and it's a real problem at speeds over 55mph. I'm 5'6" and have the OEM shield at it's lowest setting, which puts the top of the shield between my nose & jaw, just perfect for peeking over the screen. That height has always worked fine on other cruisers. I'm going to experiment with raising the screen in small increments. With a bit of luck, I might hit nirvana and still be able to see the road ahead without having to look thru plastic. I'm disappointed that the lowers didn't turn out to make the difference I first thought they did. My FF helmet is a KBC VR-1, that has two raised channels on the top as part of the vent system, and a sharp edging at the rear where the vented air exits. One piece of advice says that these type of helmets work fine on sports bikes, but on upright cruiser postures there is too much turbulence created on top of the helmet. The same advice recommended a helmet with a smooth (more traditional) shape on top, that lets the wind pass over uninterrupted. Looks like a few trips down the freeway with a hex key in the pocket, once it damn well stops raining. Has anybody had any luck with eliminating buffeting by height adjustment on the OEM shield, or fitting the Custom World lowers, or both? Helmet experimentation is a last resort due to the expense. |

| Hey dry toast! That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that as a way to reduce the buffeting around the top of the helmet that bops my head around uncomfortably at highway speeds. It's an expensive way to go though, I'll have to buy the wife a car, so I'll wait and see if I get a few more enlightened comments.
