Default Tripping on the C50

So I had mentioned a trip I am taking in October on a few other threads. Basically, I have wanted to ride my bike to Key West for the last 5 years. The bike has changed 3 times, but the desire to do the trip hasnt. I have been unable to do it before because the wife didnt want to go - well not on the bike - and I hadnt really had any riding buddies until recently. Well, last year I made good friends with a guy from another forum and we now ride all the time. He's like a brother in law to me. Anyway - I mentioned the trip to him and he was all for it. So then I all of a sudden had a friend to ride with so the wife wouldnt worry about such a long ride by myself.

well - it snowballed from there and now we have a group of 4 of us riding down to Key West from Mobile, Alabama and then on the route back we are heading over the east coast to catch Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach! And along the way - we are meeting up with over 20 other forum members from 3 different forums! Its become epic, as my friend keep saying.

So I have the C50 now and I have been prepping it for the last few weeks to prepare for the ride. I know its gonna be a long ride and I am fairly sure my butt will hate the saddle for awhile when we get back... but I just cant seem to stop thnking about this ride!

I still have 20 days until its time to go...

hahaha - yeah - we've been getting a lot of that from the forums.

I just think its great that what started out as me wanting to take a ride has grown into something thats as big as it is. We have people meeting to ride with us from states like Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina... I mean - its just cool. Choppers, bobbers, baggers, 250s, 1200s, trikes, - my C50 is the only "normal" kinda bike in the group... well - there is a Sportster thats meeting up with us as we pass thru Miami area.

Im ready to go now!

I'm doing a "test run" this weekend. Loading up the bike with what I intend to carry for the trip and driving 100 miles to campground. Then setting up and doing a camp out that night, tear it all backj down Sunday morning and repack the bike and head back to the house. Sort of a warm up - hahaha

14 days and counting...

the pre ride - test ride was great and informative.
I learned that you have to hunt for firewood before the sun goes down, a lantern is for distributing light over an area and thus not to be substituted for a flashlight, and lastly - no matter how fluffy a sleepingbag seems - I still want an air matress

haha - I was surprised that the c50 had way more ability to carry stuff than I originally thought. With the sissbar bag facing backwards and the tent and sleeping bag on the passenger seat - I still had plenty of room - about half the back seat was still visible - which translates into "usable area to strap more stuff to"

I also installed a throttle lock system - oh my god - how I managed to live without this little jem all my life - I have no idea. 600+ miles the last 2 weeks and no swollen hands from arthritis... LIFE SAVER!!
