Default Changing the bars on a C50

Hi yall.
I have an '05/'06 C50 with stock bars and cables. I want to swap out to a slightly taller bar, but with a shorter width and less angle on the pullback. I searched topics about C50 handlebars, but didnt see the information I was looking for (could've missed it).

What are the dimensions of the stock bars? rise, pullback, and width...

Thanks for all help.

I thought of a narrower bar so I could fit it through my basement door I wonder about some buckhorn pullbacks?

You have a tape measure... I have a tape measure.
I am dinking on the keyboard....you are dinking on a keyboard.
I am thinking,"I could go measure those things"..... you are thinking "Annie could go measure those things for me".

hahaha - Tallannie - I wasnt asking someone to do it - i was hoping someone else already had...

anyway - to get the bars I wanted, I needed to do some slight tear-down of the stock bars. Turns out the risers aren't knurled and the stock bars aren't dimpled. Thats a good thing - makes the searching easier.

I measured the stock bars at a 6" rise with a 36" spread. Although my main dislike with the stock bars is the angle of the pullback, I didnt have a way to figure out what they were, so I skipped it for now.

I bought a new z-bar handlebar off the internet this weekend. It has a 10" rise and is only 30" wide. If I am close on my backyard calculations, I should be able to use the stock cables, switch boxes, and levers. This will allow my shoulders to rest more comfortably, and my arms to be more parallel to the road which should lessen the fatigue on my hands.

I also ordered some new grips that have gel inserts which i figured should help some too.

I will take pictures when I get them on.

Look at that, Amish, now you're the go-to guy. I've been thinking of swapping bars and was wondering the same things. One second you're just some guy... two posts later your an expert on handlebars.

You've already saved someone else the trouble of a walk out to the garage.

Default Handlebar swap

Hey Amish,

I just ordered a set of Road King hi rise pull back bars for my C50. They are about 4" taller and 2" narrower than my stock bars. My son just put a pair on his Road King and they fit great without changing any wires or cables. I took his old touring bars and laid them on top of my bars and they were almost identical in configuration. The knurl distance was correct for the stock risers. I'll keep you informed when I get them installed and post a pic.

Well - I installed my new z-bars today. I also installed saddlebags, grips, and a cup holder all after I changed the oil and filter. I am installing a 12 volt socket tomorrow so I can charge my cell phone when I go out on long rides.

I am planning a long ride next month as a matter of fact. Going from Mobile, Alabama to Key West, Florida then up to Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach, before heading back home. Taking a week off of work and I have 3 friends who are riding it with me. REALLY looking forward to this! Now that my bars are 100 times more comfortable - I can relax and just ride....

Got the 12 volt socket installed and also wired up an alarm system. I'm almost ready for new paint

I have pictures now!!!

Notice the chrome drink holder? On long rides I dont have to buy a drink and toss it - I can carry it with me now. I was able to use the stock cables and lines without modification - probably could've gone up to the 12" z-bars as they are only 32" wide - but -the 10"ers fit me perfectly.

The bags are ok - kinda small on the inside - I am planning to remove them after this Key West trip next month.

My plans for the winter - I intend to make full dresser fenders for it, similar to old Indian Chief fenders, and a new paintjob - leaning towards either an electric blue metallic, or a dark burnt orange metallic...
