Default throttle help

I need some help. I have a 2008 C50. I adjust my handlebars forward a little. I then attempeted to rotate my controls back so it would be a more comfortable ride. As soon as I got the throttle loose I heard something fall down into the handle bars. How do I get the throttle off, recover the piece, and get it back together? HELP.

This may not help much: on my 07 c50 the throttle assembly has some kind of 'locating groove' or something like that so that the throttle assembly always 'locates' on the same section and orientation on the bar. You can't rotate it. I dont know what you could have heard drop down the the bar as there is not much stuff inside there. Has the throttle assembly re-tightened ok? Does it work?

Thats why I took the top of the triple tree off to relocate my cables. Personally I think its much easier.

Were you loosening the counterweight on the end of the throttle? If so, you may have had the nut at the back of the pressure grommet drop off. If that is the case, you can either take the bars loose and tilt them until it comes out, or shoot compressed air into the other side, with something porous taped over to catch it, like cheesecloth or burlap.

How easy is it to take off the triple tree to relocate the cables. I have so many people tell me they removed the cables, but I cannot find anyone who has taken off the triple tree. Can you do this on the side stand, or on a jack? Any problems that I will have to watch for? What is the torque specs?

No need for a jack just loosen the two pinch bolts and the center nut and pull it up and off the forks. I bet I can do it faster than undoing the throttle cables.
