Default Rear Light & Stop Light Plus Added

Just wanted to show my modifications for 4000 mile trip coming up in a week. Completely removable in about 10 minutes and all plastic. I have added the 1/4" thick, approx. 12" x 18" formed poly plastic to the top of my luggage rack to make mounting my Nelson Riggs Bag more secure and easier to mount. Across the rack there you will see a 2" painted pvc plastic pipe with holes drilled for 2 large j-hooks that hold the unit to the luggage rack and various bungee strap spots / holes, adds no more than about 3 lbs. total. Recently I bought from Chrome Glow a 6" led that is a running light and brake light combination, all removable with connectors for safety from the rear, took an evening to wire up and solder.

Looks like a well thought out set-up.

The only thing I saw that made me look twice was the threads sticking up near the middle. Are you going to put a section of hose over the metal?

I may just be confused, been there before.

Regards,
John

Default Thread question

The two threads you see sticking up are actually j-hooks underneath that attach to the luggage rack and are wrapped in shrink tubing where they attach so they won't scratch the luggage rack, they just hook to the lead edges of the rack. The length of threads you see are necessary, so when the nuts are removed, the bolt can slide through from the top to the bottom to allow removal of the entire assembly. They probably should be covered to look better, but when your loaded, they cannot be seen anyway.
