You should try that before you spend all those arms and legs....

Speaking of exhaust... my wife asked me why her new S40 doesn't sound like my bike.

I just debaffled mine last night, and the sound is great! Deep rumble and not too loud. use a quality drill and take your time. Another bonus.. cost zero $$

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Yes metal or bi-metal hole saw is a must. Actually 2 of them, 3" and 1".
Arbor is a center piece that you mount into your drill and it holds the saw.

Yes, Home Despot or Lowes will have all of that staff.

Good luck!

Don't forget to read the notes under the video. Did it a few days ago and I am very happy with the sound. Not tool loud and much deeper.

Default debaffled

New bike Owner here. Been lurking on this site and have found great ideas and information.

Read about this debaffling just yesterday, went out and spent $40 bucks on tools and proceeded to remove the upper pipe baffle. Came out just like the video showed.

The sound on just one pipe debaffled is pretty loud so I stopped there. My questions is since I have done one, do you have to do both? Does only one debaffled pipe effect the engine performance or anything along those lines?

Also, do you need a power commander ( don't really know what that is) but I've seen it referenced when speaking of changing stock exhaust?

This is a great site. Thanks

I would recommend doing the other one, and no you don't need to install a power commander or any other FI computer.
Fibrosleeve is just like a High temp fabric that helps soften the sound a bit.

Here's how much I liked the debaffle...

... I will now save $700 and NOT buy new pipes. The defaffled pipes sound great to me and I don't see a need to spend a lot of money on pipes. It's pretty easy too.

Yup, when I had my c50t, I had 3 other friends that heard mine and wanted me to do the same to theirs.

So I should do both pipes? One is not what I was hoping for. It seems to give off a popping sound. Maybe one just isn't right.

Did you also demikey?

Can you use the fibrosleeve to tone it down a little without doing the demikey step?

The debaffle doesn't change things enough to worry about it.

Make it even and do both pipes. Never heard of anyone else ever doing just one.
