[quote=rathr-b-cruisin;332783]Here's a pic of my bike with the backrest and luggage rack. I got mine off of ebay from cruiser backrest for 170.00. eBay Motors: Suzuki Boulevard C50 Volusia 800 Complete Backrest Kit (item 140135832420 end time Jul-15-07 21:10:34 PDT)

Say there, thanks for the replies. I did 75 miles today in the foothills and near mountains - did just fine. What is the kind of bag on your C50 and what is the mounting system? The bags look a little low to me - what are they like on the pipe side? Any hotspots?

I will try for the setup you have, looks fine to me.

I forgot to ask - does that backrest pivot or is it a solid mount for the person's back? Does a pivot one make much of a difference? Any GF or wives give you answers for this?

The backrest does not pivot it is fixed. My wife complains more of butt pain than anything. We generally have to stop every 60-90 minutes or so. But thats fine by me anyway. The bags are synthetic that i found in a local biker shop. I saw them online one time, I'll see if i can find them again. They are just throw over bags but i made my own hard mount brackets. They dont hang low at all, as a matter of fact they are higher than they were with the throw over leather. No hot spots at all, they said the bags have to be 1 1/2 inches from the top pipe and i'm much higher than that. Here are a few pix, but i did a write up about them here. http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/fo...unt-today.html

Say there rathr-b-cruisin-
I went to the ebay site and found the backrest as you said. It also said look elsewhere for ther carrier rack. I think your whole setup looks good. I'd add the bags later when I can afford it. The hangers look like bent stainless steel or chromed steel or something similar - looks like a machinist made it. Nice. I will post this then read your article.

I have gone through all the items, both on ebay and their "our store" link and can not find the carrier rack. I don't think it would be cool to buy one without the other - because of what fits, etc. Is the Suzuki C50 rack the same as the one they sell for Yamaha? It doesn't say on the description page. How much extra was the carrier rack? How did you bolt the bags on this whole thing - the same 2 bolts only longer?

Do you have this places' email address or physical address from when they shipped the stuff to you? Or maybe a contact person or telephone number/name/ etc of the company?

I would appreciate it if you could find this stuff and send it to me on PM or just post it for all to see.

Is there a trick or method to filling the gas tank on the C50? Mine drops a couple of inches after moving around and never seems to get filled up - which is what I need. Out here in the west there are some stretches that are 170 miles apart from towns, so a few ounces could make a difference. It is not that bad here in Idaho, but nearly so. How far do you go on a tank before whichever lights come on? I have no idea about what the lights mean - no owners manual. PMO.

Other than a few minor complaints, I really like my 06 C50 Limited Edition. I posted some pics in " MSF vs Reality" as I recall.

By the way, how do you add large (physical size) pictures to a post instead of the little thumbnails?

thanks for your time -

Looking at the article, they still look good. Have you made any sketch of size of material, bends, hole placement, etc? I'd love to see it and probably do it. The bags look good too - nice and simple, pretty functional and do not detract from the bike.

I notice you have passenger floorboards?

Yah? I've ONLY put 93 in my 1400 Intruder since I bought it (new) and had the jet kit put in. But maybe I don't NEED to be running Premium. You think I should try 87 ?
