When idleling and you touch rev it by surprice, how do your engine sounds or feels, mine makes a sound that I don't like... Ideas on how to remove warning stickers ? Please, if you read this, the post a link to your favorite online accesorie store. Doing my first oil change this weekend, got EOM filter $12 and going to walmart for some rotella. The bike has 488mi at this point, what else should I do to it this weekend in terms of first service... Any other ideas or hints....

But, if this is normal with others out there and not a sign of a problem with my particular unit, then I will learn to live with it and just won't touch rev it so I don't have to hear it... Thanks for the reply...

| Well, I got the new Rotella oil they sell at walmart and not so sure that I want to put that in my engine after reading that it is mainly a disel engine oil, so I need some advised. I remember when I had my SV650, there were some hardcore Rotella users / SV owners that were pretty disapointed at the fact that Shell/Walmart is discontinuing the old version of the oil, and they weren't too happy with the new version now available. Walmart still list the old version on the shelves, but it is always out of stock, either they don't bring it anymore or people just buy it on the spot. Also, the Gallon version is not longer available, only the quart for $1.09. Looking at the manual, the Rotella old version standards are a perffect match to the suzuki standards requirements listed on the bike manual. On the other hand the new version has all these new standards and who knows all the new additives they have put in there now that might not be good for bikes... Then I went to the Shell website and they very clearly states the new version is a heavy duty version for heavy duty disel machinery. That kinds of orbitates even farther away from the motocycle standards and needs... Anyways, I have included pictures here of the two products and just hope for some sound advise before I drop that oil inside the engine... Also, just noted the C50 shares the same filter as ex SV650. Enjoy Filter Sharing... Smart Suzuki... ![]() I went to the dealer to get a filter $12... and guy asked me which C50 I own, the C50, C50KCA or C50T. Do any body knows the difference between the first two ? The old Rotella vs. the new Rotella, is it still good for a bike engine... The old worked great on my ex SV, but how about the new... ? ![]() New Heavyduty description ![]() Shell website advised on new Heavyduty description ![]() Standard listed on the manual match perfectly the old Rotella standard ![]() Also note, that per the manual, 10W-40 oil on this engine is only good for temperatures up to 70F, right now in FL we start at 70F in the morning an by noon we are in the 90's F.... So is the Rotella 10W-40 still providing enough protection for FL weather... ? Old Rotella Info

| Well, after some hefty reading, I guess the new Rotella 15W-40 should actually be better then the old 10W-40, I don't understand what was the issue with the SV owners making the switch to the new stuff... I am going to try it anyways... But, next is the filter issue, I guess no body makes a good filter for the C50/SV models... Purolator has the motorcycle model ML16818 but that is not recommended either... As a fact, none of the filters available for the C50, including the suzuki brand, is not recommended... So what are you guys using? Stock or Purolator ML16818 ? Here is a SV owner and what he uses... New Rotella T with ML16818 filter which is not recommended. The ML16818 is not even made by Purolator, is a thirdparty project... ![]() Here is a list of all recommended filter make and models... ![]() Here are the only filter make and models available to the C50/SV650: ![]() So where do you go from here, which filter should C50 owners should be getting.... I am all for saving money, so $6 for purolator and $9 for New Rotella T Gallon sounds like a plan....

| ... ![]() | so far, i haven't found a single place that sells purolator filters up here in canada, so i avoided Fram like the fothermucking plague and went to NAPA to get the NAPA / Wix ones. even cheaper than purolator, and the NAPA store had the filters on display cut apart, so you could pick it up and poke the sample to see what you are getting. VERY cool!!!

If the 15w-40 leaves room for improvement, I might consider the syntheric version, but at $17 per gallon, I doubt it... I am looking to cut corners where ever I can if not without compromising to much, and seems like the regular Rotella does just that... Now the big question is which oil filter, because at $12 for the stock locally or $9 online when buying 5 or more, I am considering to settle for something else that I can get locally for about $6, but what do I get... The is a purolator that is very well recommended, but it won't fit the C50, and the ones that do fit the C50, are not recommended, so what do I do ? Pay $12 for the stock which is not recommended any more then a purolator for $6 which is not recommended either, or even the Tech from walmart for $2 which is cosider to be just as good as the stock, but still not recommended... My head is pining right now... Off to walmart again to get gear oil....

It is now 5:19pm and I havent started nothing, monking around so time to get busy, talk to you guys later.... Any tricks on how to make this as clear as possible? On the SV was a very easy since the filter was clear out of the way, but the C50 has some frame bars underneath it and i am thinking something is going to get duty some where / some how.... Oh well.... I am planing on using my jack lift, but am thinking that will even make it more difficult to get the oil pan collector under need since the jack is in the way... plus the bike is too low now to fit anything underneath it without lifting it up... so many complications....

| I use the fram filter, I get mine from walmart. I've used fram filters for the past 15 years in my cars. I get my oil from auto zone. Valvoline motorcycle oil 10w40. I've been thinking of upgrading the oil to either 20w50, or a synthetic. Let me know how that rotella works too.

I do notice the bike is a little quieter and shifting may be a little smoother too, I will say may a 10% improvement difference in quietness and smoothness... Also, clatter still there, I think this might a design problem that will take mechanical adjustments to get it fix, not just an oil type change. I just don't play with the throttle anymore so I don't have to hear the sound and so that I wont cause any damage, just in case... Although I have not noticed much improvement over the standard oil that came with the bike, I can not say that I have notice anything negative either, I don't feel any problems or difference with the clutch and everything seems normal so far so I think i will stick with the Rotella regular 15w-40 for now. These bikes are meant to an imitation of the Harley in style and I think also in behavior, so maybe that is why the clunky hard shifting, to make it sound and feel like a Harley. The SV650 had a completely different feel in the gear box, it almost felt as an artistic novelty to shift the SV, so I know Suzuki knows how to make a good gear box, it might just be a style thing...
