| I have an '06 c-50 with about 4100 miles on her-I've always had my local Suzuki stealer (oops!..I mean dealer), service ,and change the oil. Question is, is the synthetic oil better for the bike vs. regular oil..Damn, I just want what's best for my baby!!

| Try "synthetic".

| Cliff notes -- Synthetic works well, as does oil designed for "heavy" engine, such as Shell's Rotella. I've been running synthetic in my C50 since the second oil change.

| I just use Castol 20-40....used it on all my bikes for years. On my air cooled Norton and Triumphs I used 20-50 with no problems...except for the leaks.

| ^^^^^^ Teeheehee What would be a good brand synthetic to use? Mobil 1 has all the wrong API\Environmental blah...blah...blah on the bottle.

| Used it in my truck a few times... I believe Rotella is used in the diesels because of it's ability to withstand the heat produced by the turbocharger and the internal emmisions of a diesel. Diesel engines turn new oil black almost immediately... Been using Chevron Delo 400 mostly...it's cheap these days. Thanx! jim

I've been using Golden Spectro.....only because that's what my dealer stocks. The requirements listed in the manual are MINIMUM API ratings. Likely that those listed on Mobil 1 exceed the recommendations, except that (many) cage oils tend to mess up wet clutches. There is, however, a variety of Mobil 1 made specifically for bikes.

| Mobil 1 10-30 and heavier is fine. You don't want to use 5-30 with the 'energy conserving' label. I use 15-50 with great shifting results.

| Put 3.7 quarts of Rotella T in the bike... Shifting is way better! The transmission sounds different too. Mobil 1 brand is great oil. I'm having a tough time finding the Mobil "SJ API" specific oil here for some odd reason... Kind of liking the Shell Rotella 15\40W tho...it is very plentiful here in ranch country.

The wrong kind of syn. oil might make the clutch slip......but then the wrong kind of dino oil will do that too.
