Default Repairing drilled pipes

I originally drilled four 7/16" holes in each pipe. The sound was nice but the bike ran lean, which caused the bike to feel like it had a miss when running at steady low speeds. What was actually happening was the engine was running too lean causing the engine to starve for fuel. This could have been fixed by buying a pcIII commander for $200+ but I chose to plug up the holes. I took carriage bolts, which are the ones with a curved end cap with no slots. I then took some epoxy compound, from Home Depot, which starts out like putty but hardens like steel. I put a little putty on the bolts near the thread and end cap. Then placed the bolts into the hole. The bolt just slide in, due to the smaller size bolts than the hole. The putty would fill the hole and form around the top of the bolt and the end pipe plate. Within an hour the putty was as hard as steel and the carriage bolts sealed the holes. The bike now runs perfectly (stock) and the only difference is that it is a little bit quieter, I can live with that.
