Default Successful Debaffle

Hello.

First post outside of the intro section.

I bought a 06 C50 in june Now I have 11K on it.

I have read lots in this forum, and have learned a lot.

Im a rotella t 5w 40 convert, duct taped the wires in the head lamp assy to mitigate the cricket chirp, learned that my rear hub doesnt have cracks in it, de-badged, grip moded, and debaffled the exhaust all becuase of this forum.

I debaffled last night and recommend it to anyone who doesnt have the jack for a real pipe modification

Cost: bimetal saws and arbor from Home Depot $32
5.2 A driill from Wall Mart$29.95 (fried)

Here are some photos (no the oil stains arent from my bike. The previous owner of the house had an 883.)

Anyway, thanks so much to lyd for the vid, I will be donating on payday, and thanks for everyone here for all the great lurker info.

edit: one other thing. Some may be able to tell a slight mod to the side mirrors. I didnt like they way they stuck up and out stock, becuase it made the bike look taller, so I removed them and inverted the mirror brackets and remounted them. It makes the bike look lower, in my opinion.

Hang on here a minute. You did what? I hadn't thought of that mod. I will be looking into that as soon as I get time.

yeah, unless the stealer put them on backward, the way they came off the show floor, the vertical part was taller than the horizontal part, so I unmounted them and found that both ends are the same size and thread so i inverted them and put the mirrors on the end that normally go into the mounting bracket on the handle bar.

Default Debaffled last night too

Hey, Ex Spy,
I just debaffled. I used a 18 volt Plug in drill and it only took me about three minutes per pipe. if anyone is wondering how to get the arbor bit to host both 1.5" and the 3", I bought the HUSKY brand arbor bit and if you remove the locked pin on it you can get the three inch on the back.

it's sounds awesome!!!

Question: Do you (or anyone else) know of anything we need to do as far as re-breaking in the bike or maybe disconnecting the battery?

if that makes sense...

thanks

tyler

sorry, I am new to this sport. When you mean Debaffle are you talking about taking the resonator out of the inside of the pipe? Did you have to rejet the carbs?

Thank you in advance.

Nothing to do but ride just like before. The computer will "re-learn" the small change to the system.

If you change your air intake you will need to attend to the computer.

Nice job!

I also seen Telmo's de-baffled M50 after viewing your video on you tube. Actually it's listed as an M800 because he's from Portugal, but it's the same bike.

No problem. I was buying the M50 but the Marauder was only $2900 with 1215 miles on it and since this is my first bike I thought I should make sure I loved it first before spending 7k. Thank you though.

Tips:

- I initially tried the drilled holes in the back plate as an experiment and wish I hadn't because it significantly hindered the debaffling project.

- You want a drill with a lot of torque. I, like most of you, burnt up a cheap corded drill, before I just deicided to head to the pawn shop. I spent $40 on a veteran-lookin Dewalt drill that made short work of the whole process that is still usable now.

- I bought my hole saws at Northern tool. The Irwin parts will all hookup on the same arbor and if they're bimetallic, still look new when you're done.

- If you don't have a dowel rod...a broom stick works perfect.

- Take it easy, a high torque drill has the potential to twist your arm very quickly.

I just did it this week, and would never go back.
Sounds great.
Again thanks for everything and I look forward to learning off this forum.

I weakened, and did mine last weekend.

drilling was fine, but debaffling is better.

Now, where did I hear about de-mickeying?

Smile Successful Debaffle

Well, my buddy just got married in PA last weekend, so a bunch of HD buddies and I decided to go up there and back to Charleston SC on the bikes. So I can honestly say I have 2000 miles on the debaffled pipes (5000 total miles) on my '07 Boully. No worries. Oh, and I have recently decided on a windshield

What is the difference between Debaffling or Drilling...

It would be kook if some of you can post pictures of all the tools you used to this so that we can get an idea of what it would take...

I hear some saying debaffling and others said drilling...

on my SV all I did was drill the front wall and then hit the resonator with a hammer until the inner welt broke off, then it came out easy and the sound was amazing....

I have only had the bike for 1 day and 88 miles so I will wait a bit before I do it...

Also, anyone have done anything to reduce vibration on the foodboard ?
