| Newbie | So I put my bike in a truck while moving, and had to drain the fluids. I've looked in my owner's manual and service manual, and it doesn't explain about the reservoir. I've filled the coolant system, but the reservoir won't fill. Do I need to fill it separately?

| It's part of the total capacity. Fill it to the 'cold' mark if there is one, then watch it to see if it gets depleted, and refill it.

| Newbie | The service manual, IIRC, states that the capacity of the coolant system is 1.6 Qts, without the reserve. I'm adding coolant to the radiator directly, and did get quite a lot of air out of the system by sloshing it left to right, but no matter what I do, it seems, coolant won't go into the reserve tank. Do I want to just pour coolant in there, or should it get pumped in when the engine gets "really" warmed up? FWIW, I've gotten the engine pretty much completely warmed, or so I think . . .

| When doing a complete refill add from rad inlet until full then sway the bike left and right to rid the system of air then add more coolant & start it up for a few minutes. Repeat until you don`t get any air bubbles then put cap back on and run it for a few more minutes then let her cool.(Do this a couple of times). Then add coolant to the reservoir up to the full level. Be aware the system only takes 1.6 US gallons. Check thereafter to make sure all is ok.

| Newbie | Thanks Wes. Did all the first part, the "add coolant to the reservoir up to the full level" is what I was missing. Is that in the service manual? Did I just miss that part? The rest is in the manual, but oh well . . . I'm willing to bet that you meant quarts, not gallons |

| That's a dang tiny system if that's the case.
