I know there are tons of threads out there dealing with oil, but I've got to provide some update on my latest experience. I've been using Suzuki oil and filters since I bought my bike in Sep 05, and it's been running okay. I've noticed, however, that shifting was sort of clunky, and would smooth out right after an oil change, but after a few weeks get clunky again. I've faithfully changed oil and filter at proper intervals, and currently have 6,100 miles on my C50. A few weeks ago I searched threads again to see if maybe I need to use a different oil. I'd read several things about Shell Rotella, both dino oil and synthetic, but have never used either. Well, to make a long story a little shorter, I decided to go with Shell Rotella T synthetic 5W40. It's been a couple of weeks now, and let me tell you, the difference, at least for my bike, is remarkable. The engine runs smoother and quieter, and the shifting is smoother than ever. I can't tell you what it will be like after a couple of thousand miles, but for now it runs better than ever. I've never used synthetic oil before, but if my bike keeps running like it is, I'll never go back to dino oil. Even though I've read that Rotella T synthetic is a synthetic/dino blend, it appears to be darn good stuff, and I'm sold on it. That's my two cents worth on the continuing oil saga. |
