Default Seat Question

OK now that I think I have found the pipes I want. I am now looking into something else for the bike. I am looking at seats. I know there are a few seat out there. But my delima is I am about 5'6" with a 28" inseam. I know I am shot. Without lowering my bike is there a seat that I can get that will be comfortable. I guess the reason I say with out lowering my bike is because I have heard that lowering the bike makes it a rougher ride. I am not sure of how much of this is true. I have only had my bike since april so I really don't know to much about my bike but I am wanting to learn more. Any input would be greatful.
Thanks,
Quinton

Qtib, I know the OEM gel seat lowers you about an inch, but don't have one. Haven't really heard much about it either. The Mustang seat raises you up about an inch, so just the opposite. I'm 5'6" too, so I feel your pain. So far I've just stayed with the OEM seat. Really haven't had much trouble with it, but have only ridden about 100 miles on my longest trip so far.

Lots of experience here, though. You might search the forums to see what others have written. Maybe others can chime in too. Hopefully someone has bought the OEM gel seat and can provide some feedback.

I'm even shorter at 5'-4", (no I'm 5' 4&1/2" damit) and have lowered 3" and bought the Mustang seat. It is just right now.

I am 5'7' and about 24" inseam. I just put a Mustang Seat on this week.
Have not taken out on the road yet as my foot is giving me trouble.
I wear western boots and when I sat on the bike I was flat footed.

Soon as I get on the road I will let you know how I find it for fit.

I was out on the bike today. Put on 150 miles on backroads and the Mustang seat is worth every $. I am still flat footed although " up and " forward. Will have to adjust mt windshield up.

I checked my inseam and I am shorter than I thought in the legs.

If you have 28" inseam the Mustang seat will be no problem.
I bought mine thru Eric Wright at Extremesuzuki. Good prices.

There was just a little difference due to my adjusting the shock up one notch. Lowering doesn't change the comfort level at all.

I paid $390 US including shipping, I expect your price would be $360 shipped/
Note, I bought the one with studs and conchos, I think the one without is $30 less.

Studded is #75810
without is #75811

Just make sure you tell Eric Wright at Extremesuzuki you are a member here.

Jerry, how much trouble was it to lower your bike? Did you do it yourself? Where did you get the kit?

I know I can find the info by searching, but since you've got direct experience and you're height challenged too, I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks

I put a Mustang seat on my Volusia and it was worth every penny. With the stock seat my behind would be sore after about 50 miles. I rode about 400 miles after putting the Mustang on and had no pain. As for lowering, I lowered mine 2.5 inches and adjusted the shock one notch and it didn't seem to make any difference in the ride. I go about 230 and ride 2 up and with the 2.5 in. lowering it is still a good ride.

lowering your bike is easy. The hardest part is getting the nuts loose. They are really tight. I had to take my exaust off to get them loose. It also helps if you have help. I didn't and it was hard holding the bolt on one side and loosening the nut on the other. I made my lowering bones. You need 2 pieces of steel 1/4 in. thick by about 1-1/2 in. wide. The length depends on how much you want to lower it. I think every 1/2 in. longer between the holes lowers it about 1 in. I saw in one of the forums there is a guy who sells lowering kits for $35. Good luck
