Initially I thought "oh...I don't need that..." and used only the toe as I was used to....but one day I gave it a try and OH MY GOD; I got used to it and love it.

I use mine all the time, too.

I like not haveing to squeeze my boots under the toe shifter to get going.

I use the heel shifter almost exclusively. Now and again I use the toe shifter just to stay in practice so to speak. If I bought a new bike the heel shifter would have to be included with the purchase.

I do not use it ... sometimes, in stop and go traffic I'll bump it into neutral accidentally with it ... and wonder why the hell the bike does not inch forward when I let the clutch out.

I use them and love them. I think they are easier to use with the floorboards than trying to get my fat boot between the floorboard and the shifter.

I pretty much have to use the heel shifter, as my steel toe work shoes won't even start to fit under the toe part.

I use it, don't have a problem when I ride other bikes, just seems natural and fast on the C50. First heel shifter, but then I could jump on my 59 sportster tonight and run through all the gears using my right foot. Once you get the hang of it, you don't even engage the brain..it just happens. I always use it. The change was easy as my last bike was 35 years ago. It seems quite natural now, and I don't scuff up my boot....

Never used a heel-toe shifter until I bought my C50.....it felt really weird at first, but after I got used to it I wondered how I managed to live without it..I would not want to go back to a standard shift.

using the heel will help you keep your legs and body in a better position to balance the bike in turns and when coming to stops. Its there so you might as well use it. Seems like a waste not to use it. You will get use to it and eventually wont want anything else.

But i've since fallen out of love with it. Just wondering if anyone uses it. The only good thing about it was it didnt scuff up the top of my boot.

Yep, zombie thread, but FWIW, I cut it off the V-star and gave it to the dog to play with, its in the way. Can't change old habits.

If the bike hadn't come with it I would have put one on because I wear polished shoes to work. I like the heel shifter.
