A question for those that have these, how does the quick release work? How quickly does it release, and could you take it off, throw your leg over, and then clip it back on?

I'm interrested in getting one of these to match my Mustang saddle, and I thought I'd ask a few questions. This topic is a bit old, but it's the right place.

I am the maker of these so I will try and answer your questions. First you mount the supplied sleeve using existing bolt for the Mustang seat then you simply slide the backrest in or out as needed takes literally seconds on the Mustang two-piece the sleeve is totally hidden so it is a little tricky to get the backrest in the sleeve while you are on it. I have this on my bike and I have no problem doing it once you know where it is located at.

I bought one of these and It took about 15 min to install on my lc1500 and I don't notice being forward any. I have to mount over the front seat and I'm short and have no problem. Now I can't ride without it. LOVE IT

Thanks Lonnie and 4d. I appreciate the responses. I read through everything yesterday to make sure my questions hadn't been asked, and the product really sounds good, I must say. Feedback on your service is fantastic as well, so expect an order soon!

I was thinking of getting the C50 Touring passenger back rest for my bike, and I'm not sure if the rectangular Mustang pad would look better or the C50 pad. Can you do either on the Mustang mounting hardware? Also, would one be more comfortable than the other? Form follows function on this, so that's key.

Thanks again for the quick replies.

You can choose either style it is a matter of personal preference. They are both constructed with the same materials so equally comfortable!

Nice! Thanks V0lusia! That might be the way I go. I need to make it through Christmas first to see what Santa brings my way before deciding, but I'm thinking that shortly after Christmas, I'll go for it. Thanks again for all of your support Lonnie. I apprecaite you filling me in and helping out. I look forward to getting back in touch with you soon to fill out and order and start riding in comfort!

Just got my backrest from Lonnie today. Unfortunately for me, I can't use it: The seat and mounting hardware are well-designed, and appear well-made. Personally, I just can't use this backrest because it pushes me so far forward that my crotch is on the gas tank (ouch). I can't imagine this backrest works for anyone but small or medium-built people.

I'm waiting to hear from Lonnie to find out if I can return it.

Fitz box it up return it and I will send you a new one that is designed for guys that feel cramped! Most people at first feel cramped but after riding for a few days realize that the backrest really corrects your posture giving you that cramped feeling. The Mustang seat when you first try it will give you that same sit on the gas tank feel I hated mine at first but now I love it. Either way I will make it right for you if you want to try it for a while let me know! Ride Safe!

Thanks, Lonnie, I appreciate that.

What's the difference between what I have now and other solo backrests that you have? I think the problem here is the angle of the mounting bracket, since its lays over the back of the stock driver seat. That, in turn, leaves the seat mounted too far forward for bigger guys (I think). The backrest itself is fine although a bit larger than I'd expected.

Thanks again.

Well, I hate to say this but that won't work for me; it's just not enough room for me to sit on the seat, much less ride comfortably.

I'll ship it back to you for a refund if that's okay.

Thanks.

Lonnie,

I still have this backrest but it's been sitting in the box and is of no use to me (as I explained previously).

I was looking at your GrasshopperLimited website and was curious: What's the difference between the "Suzuki C50T OR C90T Custom Studded" backrest and the "Suzuki C50/Volusia Studded Mustang Solo Custom" backrest (which is the one I have, I believe)?

Anyway, I still need to return the backrest I have...I know it's been awhile but with a newborn baby girl I haven't had much time to focus my attention on anything else.

Thanks.

Cool Caution if under 5'8"

There is no doubt the grasshopper backrest is a great deal at very good quality, however, stepping through my c50t to mount, since there is no way your leg can go over is a pain (I'm 5'7"). And trying to attach the backrest after you are on is difficult if not impossible at best! Everyone must weigh the advantages to the disadvantages for themselves, but for the mounting problem with my vertically challenged body, mine stays in the saddle bags or on a shelf most of the time, now if it folded???? it may be a thought!

Hello Lonnie,
Could you please send me an e-mail to confirm my order/payment through paypal for the backrest to suit the C50.
I have send an email late last week, but you still haven't answered this.
As I'm in Australia...I'm starting to get concerned...........

I really like mine. Im 5'10 and it makes the stock seat feel better on my butt. I think it does make you set a little forward on the seat and your butt isnt smashed against the back of the seat.
