|  New C-50 Owner and Valve Clearance ?
I've been lurking for a month or so. I bought a 2006 C-50 Gray/Silver. I am loving the bike and am starting to ride to work a few days a week 60 mile round trip. I live in Tampa, Fl so the weather is reel nice to ride this time of the year. Lots of good info here that you guys are sharing of your experiences....thanx! I am at the 600 mile mark. I typically do my own oil changes/bolt tightening/torquing, etc...do oil changes on my V-6 4 stroke Yamaha outboard engine and even my 6.0 Powerstroke Diesel in my F-250 read mechanically comfortable w/basics. Question I have relates to the valve clearance check @600 miles. The guy that delivered my bike told me it was BS...means for dealer to make $$...have read that on different posts here the same. I hear no abnormal tapping of the valves in the motor. I know on my Yam outboard the same procedure was specified @ 100 hrs and mechanic said in that case...you never break open a perfectly good running engine--I now have 457 hrs of trouble free performance on Yam. Sooooo. blow off valve inpection or not? I really don't want to hassle w/dropping off the bike and being without it for something I am getting mixed signals on. |
