Default Rust color dust on clutch cable housing

The other day I took about an hour ride. When I got home, I was putting the bike in the barn, and looked down I saw this rust color looking like dust. I got to investigating and it was on the outside cover of where the clutch cable goes into the engine. I haven't had time to take off the cover but thought somebody might know what it is. Please advise if anyone has experienced this.

It's... rust! Why the big mystery? Have you lubed the cable recently? Sometimes that makes corrosion more obvious because it lets it run out easier.
