Default 650 vstar

hi i have been given a vstar bobber, its not been run for 4 years. it has been stored empty of fuel. it fired right up with new gas but it wants to bog down and die when i give it some gas. hope someone has some ideas and can point me in the right direction

P.s it didnt look this nice when i got it, seat paint and a few other bits done by me

Awesome looking bike!!!! 650 site is an awesome resource, I have used it many times, esp the performance section. Have you gone through it and cleaned everything up? carbs, air filter, plugs,etc. If it has set up that long it could just need running to get all of the gunk out. I would start there, change the fuel filter make sure there are no leaks(air or otherwise). If that all checks out then time to move on to bigger and better things. Hope this helps...If not 650 ccnd is the way to go...TONS of helpful info there.
