Exclamation 07 Vstar Fuel Level Light Blinking

Hi! I just bought an 07 Yahama VStar 1300 Tourer. About 5 miles from the dealer the fuel light started blinking. Thought it was low on gas so I pulled into the service station only to find it was full to the brim on gas. Called the dealership and they said they couldn't do anything until Mon. since they are closed until then.

So, any ideas what this might be caused by? Could the light have been triggered by filling the tank up too full?

Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to be without my new bike for a week if there's something minor that's causing it.

B

I checked out quickly your owners manual on Star Motorcycle, Star Motorcycles, Yamaha motorcycle, V Star, and there is a small section on pages 3-2 and 3-3 about the fuel light blinking. Doesn't say much though. Is the bike running properly other than the light being on?

yep, bike it running just fine. I tried undoing the battery to see if it would reset much like a cars computer, didn't work... I am wondering if it just needs to be reset. I contacted the guy(from the dealer) that I talked with the day I bought the bike today(he was nice enough to give me his cell phone number) and told them I would drop the bike off in the morning. They said they would have it ready no later than the afternoon... unless they have to order a part, then they might need the bike for a couple days... rather it be fixed than to continue to ride with the light blinking...

Thanks,
B
