| Going through the same issue with my '06 1700 Roadstar... if you like the looks of the stock pipes but are looking for a more robust exhaust note, aftermarket slip-ons are where you should look. You absolutely can do the install yourself and unless you change the intake, no need to be concerned with re-jetting... and that shop that wants you to sign a release for doing what their in business to do.....find another shop.

| I had the fully gutted stockers for a while with the slash cut ends. I loved the sound of them. The exhaust note was throaty and really barked when you hit it. Then I went with the VH short shots with the baffles in. They are nice, not too loud when cruising but a definite growl when idling and will roar when you hit it. I have several buds that ride Harley's, Victory's, and a Big Dog and I can blend in with them no prob. Took me about 30 mins to install the slip ons. I also have the GAK, re jetted carbs, and the AIS removed. This will cut down on the popping many ppl have. The work is not hard at all, it sounds more intimidating than it really is. If this is the route you choose we're here to help, or you can shoot me a message and I'll help ya through it. |
