| I just went and got the Cobra long speedster. They sound nice, it took a while to get power commander to set up but at the end it works great. I took the bike for spin and i was shock of how much power the pipes and the power commander gave to my bike. Now I want to sell my old pipes since I won't go back. I will post pictures and more info later.

| It's a great bike. Only have 550 on it but already can't imagine riding anything else. Just put on the running lights / brake lights aftermarket Kuriakyn mod. Easy to do but requires a security Torx (size 30) to open the side panel to expose wiring. (Only bolt of this type on the bike). FYI for others, you will need to put the optional load unit on to restore the flash rate to normal. (And, spend the extra to get the custom red bulbs so your lenses remain clear. Actually, I'm going to buy an extra set. The amber you take out serves as extras for the front lamps.) Next project, front passing light bar. Then no one can miss me - though I won't count on it. Also, I see there is a nice Cobra tach, small, that looks like it belongs on my handlebars. Quick? I'll say. It never ceases to amaze me how much acceleration this thing can come up with. One drawback. Can't seem to find a windshield bag that fits and is not too big to obstruct the ignition. Anyone have better luck? Please post. B |

| Breeding,Can you post some pics of your mods so the rest of us can admire your work?!?! I love my 1300 and have just over 1k on it in the 4 weeks I have owned! I love this bike. The only complaint I have is that there is not enough add ons yet but with this being a new bike, I understand. One last complaint for Yamaha/Star....please offer us some new headwear. We need to get some nice fitted hats like the other manufacturers. HD is really on to something with all of the nice gear one can buy to show their pride. Yamaha/Star does not make enough appearal of us to buy! Last edited by Timmy T; 07-09-2007 at 02:22 PM. Reason: sp |

| I bought my new v-star 1300 tourer last month and simply love it. I am averaging 48+ mpg on the highway and it is a pleasure to ride. Bob, I checked out the link you posted and I am pleased to see so much after market stuff for the 1300 available. Your site is the only one I have found such a good variety in. I'll definitely be getting some of those "goodies" for my bike. Thanks.... |

| Howdy, I just joined the riding world again after a 20 year hiatus. It's hard to believe it's been that long. I just finished the first tank of fuel (44 mpg) in my new 1300 Tourer, Charcoal and Black. I look forward to learning more about it soon. I hope you are all patient with me while I pick your brains in the future. |

| I did got the Cobras Speedster Long, they sound real good even with the baffles. I need to install the power commander (Dyno USB III Brand ) and get the bike tune by a pro using a dyno since there is not maps for my bike and pipes combo yet. But having a tunning station take care of the mapping will give me the best performances in my bike. ( I hope ) Any thoughts? |

| I have had the new V-Star 1300 tourer for about three weeks now and have 650 miles. Did the first oil and filter change and just got the V-Star 1300 factory shop manual off of ebay for under 14 bucks delivered. Seller cyclehippie usually has them. The real deal. So I will be breakin it down at about 800 miles to do the valve adjustments. I use another forum for v-star 1300's on Delphi Forums. Lots of good info there as far as problems. The common things I have read and experienced so far is the noisy damn gear box. Straight cut gears have a bit of a whine. Clutch rattle after some 400 to 600 miles in nuetral and clutch let out. I had an old Honda with clutch basket noise. Nothing to worry bout but some seem to obsess about noises. The windshield seems to amplify this sound. I have ridden many cruisers that all my friends have and this one kicks butt. I switched from sport and sprt touring bikes. No one here is really into that around here. The tourer is fast, handles great, can carve turns at high speeds, (stiffen up the preload on the rear shock first!) Floor boards have replacable feelers, so grind away. The tourer package is sweet. I am 6'3" and all i did was raise the bars about an inch or too so the ends didn't bang my knees turning in parking lots. The hard bags are very nice just keep them conditioned and clean. I remove mine every time I wash it. A bit of a pain but keeps them dry. Has anyone repled the mounting bolts for the bags yet. I was looking for some with a plastic wing nut spin off type that would make removal and install quick and easy. Sorry so long but I am not one bit dissapointed with this bike. By the way, according to the shop manual the valve adjustment is pretty straight forward and some on the other forum have stated that the recommended removal of some items is not needed to complete the job, but I will post my experience of the valve adjustment on the forum if any of you are interested. Sorry so long winded. If you are on the fence about what bike to get as far as cruisers, definatley check it out. They are doing some great discounting on this bike. |

| You say first valve check will be at 1200o miles. Was this determined by the service department as a good time to check it? Only reason why I am asking is I hear some tapping like everyone else when My engine gets hot after about 30 miles of 75 to 80 mph highway running. Without the windshield I can't hear it. But I would really only worry if I didn't hear anything or if the tapping I hear gets really loud?? I figure Ill do the initial check so I know how to do it and just determine my own intervals based on what I hear personally with my engine. It dropped down to 68 degrees this morning and the ride to work was pure joy, and that colder air made this engine just hum. I dont want to start a debate here but I didnt follow any practical break in period on this bike. I have been riding this like I normally will from 0 miles when I bought it. I know I know several schools of thought, but I would be interested on what problems people are experiencing and maybe compare what kind of break in everyone did. Will probably just start a mele of hashing but I drove it like I owned it from day one. How many people follow proper break in on a new car?? I don't know. Maybe I just got lucky with my bike and don't have any problems. The surging people talk about concerns me, but I have not had any surging whatsoever and Im just about hitting 800 miles on the bike. Will probably somewhere at 850 miles by saturday.

| When I had my 10,000 Klm ( 6000mile) service done , actually the bike had 12,000 Klm's , I asked the dealer about valves , he said the first valve check was at 20,000Klm's and showed me Yamaha's spec sheet , while I was there I watched while he done a compression test and put on a digital stethascope , there was no change in compression between the two cylinders and and there was no abnormal ticking or valve noise , I dont have any surging or engine issues at all , or clutch noise etc . For the first couple of thousand klm's , I ran my bike in as per dealers instructions .......just take it easy .....and also as I have done with all my previous purchases bikes , cars , trucks , ride on lawn mowers , etc , that is not to load them up or labour the engine , not to race the engine , change engine oil and filter at regular intervals ..........so all in all , I am very happy with this well behaved cycle , because of there rarity out here in Australia , I get stopped a lot by people asking about the bike ..........cheers .....Steve in Oz PS .....I notice you guys ( America ) are getting valves checked at every 4000 miles , i dont know why the difference , as I have read the dealers spec sheet from the manufacturer , it says first valve adjustment at 20,000 Klm's then 40,000 Klm's and so on for us here |

| I have put 100 miles on my bike so far and love it. It is the smoothest and most powerful bike i have ever owned. I have only had it up to 75 (break in period) so far...does anyone know how fast this bike is? I am sure the bike will go as fast as what the speedo reads....

| Great news, Thunder Manufacturing came up with an adaptor so you can replace the air filter of the V-Star 1300. They said, they were surprise of the horse power gain with the tear drop air filter ( + 16 hp ). They are going to install a tear drop air filter I bought and test my bike on a dyno to see the differents since i have the cobras long shot speedsters pipes on mine. There website should be updated soon. I live here in Arizona. They will give me a copy of the results and Iwill post them here. Can you imagin?
