| Finally happened to me- dropped the bike! Almost got me a teenager on a mountain bike a little bit ago- I was in traffic, on a road with 2 90 degree curves, going at exactly speed limit (they have one of those little "this is your speed" radar stations there- and the van in front of me was exactly on, and I was a 2 second count behind him. There were about 5 other bigger vehicles, mini-vans and trucks and such in front of him- So anyway, 90 degree turn number two, I am going just right speed for the corner, no problem, I mean, a 15 passenger van was going same speed LOL- so this kid on a mountain bike, must have been doing jumps for fun on that curve for a bit, looks like they had a ramp made, as soon as the van cleared the area, he come up over the ramp and in the air- RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME- and is totally in my turn radius. I am not going too fast, about 25, so I stand the bike up a bit to go wider and miss him, and end up in marble gravel on the road- I try to ride it out, leaning it back down and hope I grab some traction, which I feel it slipping, I try to nurse it as wide as I can, don't make it, and back wheel bit the curve, and sent me all the way to the pavement. FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS DOWN ON THE STREET, FIRST TIME EVER ON THIS BIKE! the kid takes off, pedaling his little *** off down the bike trail, not wanting to get his *** kicked by a biker I suppose LOL- gues that was a good survival instinct on his part, two cars right behind me stop and make sure I am okay, and I quickly had the bike back up on two wheels, even though another guy stopped to help me pick it up- I tried to wave him off, but he was too concerned about my spill, and asked me how many fingers he was holding up and such, good samaritan kinda guy LOL I thanked him, and limped the six blocks or so to the buddies house I was headed over to for lunch , and further inspected damage (beyond the "did it spill fluids, is it driveable inspection) - Here is the damage- handle bars catie-wompus- no problem, that adjusts out - some allen screws got them straight, wasn't until I was driving again I noticed the controls were not on the same level anymore- still need to adjust those. Windshield toast, finally died a quick death- poor thing, it was on it's last legs, with the brackets rusting and the plexiglass polished out like 100 times, and deep scratches from years of service- I kept al the hardware and chucked the windwsheild that was still hanging from the brackets in the dumpster at my buddies. Turn signal broke- time to permanently convert them to something else- hated them saggy factory rubber mounts anyway LOL road rash on gauges and clutch lever and handle bar end looks like a possible scratch on the end of my kerker slip ons AND NO DAMAGE TO PAINTED PARTS !!! Two dime size abrasions, one on my mid forearm, one on my knee- now, the forearm I understand, but where did the knee come from? I went on my side, not my knee! There is my slow speed accident for another 20 years I hope, damn lucky, had full gear on, from head to toe, no damage to gear even- I couldn't find any road rash on my , now 20 year old leathers LOL So I was a lucky one, and so was the bike, a teenage mountain biker taught me a valuable lesson again LOOK OUT |

| Sorry you dropped the bike and messed it up a little. Real glad to hear you are ok though. In a situation like that there's probably not much else you could have done .... other then plow into the kid on the bike

| catewampas? Took a shot in the dark on that one LOL I probably couldn't pick the kid if I saw him again, the best time for viewing him was when I was involved with other things LOL- took me a couple seconds to get the bike up- both tires were on the curb, bike on the street, so I cccaaarrrreeeffuuullllyyyy scooted it to get the tires under it LOL- then stood it up and took a quick look- there were two cars behind me with thier flashers on at this point- I thanked them, started the bike, and drove off after determining it was driveable- no bent forks, blown tires, bent rims, etc etc- so I just drove over to my buddies house to take better stock of the situation! |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | I don't know ... it looks like that bike is totalled to me. The logo on the tank looks like it says "HONDA" ... Why don't you talk to your insurance company, and see if the'll help you finance a new M90?

| Well, you made the right decision by not taking out the kid. I'm glad the punishment for your good deed is minor.

| I hate to agree with Clint, but, well, OK, he's right. Glad you missed the little 'tard and you're OK. Go with a dual sport bike next time, so you can chase the little bugger down.

| My bike is 20 years old- liability only man LOL Don't worry- a suzuki will be occupying my garage next to the honda some day LOL I posted the above yesterday on a couple of my bike sites- thought I would post it here as well- feeling a bit sore today, woke up pretty stiff (and not in a way my wife likes LOL) - with quite a few bruises on me. I will never tell the wife, she goes teary on me too quick- but I noticed one thing- the parts that hurt the worst are right where, had I had on armor, would have not been injured at all- I think the rocks I slid on was what did it- that is what put me down, the gravel on the side of the road, pea gravel to 3/4 gravel, probably from winter sanding and normal street dirt off the cars, since it is technically the shoulder. I still don't understand how my knee got the big bump and abrasions, I don't remember over going knee side down, I fell perfect, like a good judo throw, on forarm and outer thigh I thought, feet facing any danger- but who knows what happens in a split second though. Damage to the bike is so minor, that it is almost not worth mentioning- in fact, I am going to file down the little rough burs, and leave them on as "scars" to remind me of how things can quickly go bad LOL Also, I am buying new full leathers with armor for me and the wife next leather sale at our local leather shop! |

| Whoa man! Glad you're okay. That kid should consider himself fortunate because he wasn't ran over by the "Great Kodiak Bear." Now I'm curious to find out what Zuke will have the honor of sharing the garage space with the Honda.

I am really looking for a GS 1100 E mostly though- if you see my post on asking what the most winningest drag racing 'zuk is, that is what I am looking for- and I am pretty sure it is the E. I like the Kawasaki Z1/KZ series and the GS series for thier factory and after market support, and how incredibly easy it is to totally customize and get max hp out of those bikes. | |
