Default Ever been nailed for someone else's stupidity

I was on my way home from a nice ride tonight, stopped at a store to get a quick drink before hitting the highway. When I got back into town I came down off the ramp and was heading up our Main street in town and this guy on an older FZR came screeming up next to me. I have no idea who this guy is or was but he did nothing but pop the front end off the ground, do rolling burnouts and ride stupid. After almost running into the back end of a car for the second time I turned off on another road to get away from this guy, only to have to police come in from both ends of my street as I'm pulling in my driveway. Quite the scene, yelling at me to get off the bike and shut it down. I asked what the problem was and the cop was like " We've had multiple calls about a motorcyclist driving like an idiot" "Called in a a black bike very loud" I told him all the bikes in town are loud shiot. Anyways they wanted to give me a ticket for reckless endangerment for burning out and riding to endanger for wheelies. I was like hold the frig on, 1st I don't do wheelies they scare the crap out of me, 2nd I just spent some good money to put a brand new tire on the back of this thing and I'll be damned if I'm going to showboat around town burning it off. The tire still has the little nipples on it, that throws out the burning out. While they were talking to me they got another call about a bike riding like an idiot so they said they will be back tonight and get things straight. So now I'm sitting here waiting for the cops tp come back and see what I get out of this. Anyone eles have anything like this happen?

I was once pulled over on a Navy base by two base police cars. They made me sit forever then approached with guns drawn. About the time I thought they were going to ask me to get out of the car so they could shoot me, they holstered their weapons and came up and told me sorry, they'd pulled over the wrong car, and they left.

Nope they didn't show up last night, So I went over to the station this morning just got back about an hour ago actually. They said they had numerous callers after I was home about someone riding recklessly in a different part of town on a black bike that was loud, and this time a description was given by a witness of what the guy was wearing which was nothing close to the jacket or helmet I have. I got an apology from the desk officer and went on my way,a bunch of crap is what that was. They don't take the time around here to get full detailed info they just start going after whatever looks like they have details for. I understand there doing there job, I'm going to school to become a cop and I'd probably do the same as pulling over someone but I'd also make sure I had aas much details about the description first. So no ticket, nothing for me thank god. Otherwise I'd be on a hunt for that guy, I know I can catch him if need be LOL.

Bummer of an experience. You might find, however, that balancing the demands of the public with your personal standards isn't as easy as that.

Good luck in your career.

Thanks, I understand they have a job to do and get stressed I'm sure with some of the crap they have to deal with along with people. I'm sure I get to see alot of that after the Academy. Just some cops don't know when to quite after they know you couldnt have done something (rolling burn out and me having a brand new tire) but still trying to hit you for another thing. Around here there alot of power trippy cops.

IIRC, the ticket wouldn't have held up in court anyway ... there was some reports from citizens, but none of them could definitely identify your or your bike, and none could provide the police with a license plate number. The police themselves didn't witness you doing anything wrong, so the whole case would have been circumstantial. Even a kid fresh out of law school would have been able to get you off of that one ...

I have had the same thing happen in my mustang, same color only I was missing the racing stripes. All the mustangs around here are loud and fast, only if they have multiple complaints will they give you a ticket. I have got a few in the mail before, but have never lost in court. I took two years of Law which was a great help.

Unless I'm mistaken, this post would have never happened if the Officers in question had taken a few minutes to stop back by or even call and offer up an appology. A few words, and a "Sorry buddy" would have been all it took to make this a no-situation, situation. Wasn't it Bernie Taupin that penned the words "sorry seems to be the hardest words"?

I've been nailed for my own stupidity - I don't need the stupidity of others, my supply is more than adequate.

Same here TL. I have an exceeding abundant supply of stupidity. If anyone needs some, I can share.

When I Had My Zx9 Back In 1988, I Was Riding With A Friend Who Is Basically An Idiot On His Bike,, He Had A 1999 Tl1000, Nice Bike But Way Too Much For Him, We Were Riding Up The Road And Went Thru An Intersection, I Wasnt Going Faster Than 30, But When Your Just Cruising It Doesnt Sound That Way,, Well The Cops Were Sitting On The Street I Guess Just Watching And Just As We Passed The Street I Saw Blue Lights And I Said To My Self Figures.. I Stopped But My Friend Kept Going. They Told Me I Was Doing 60mph, So I Asked If They Added Both Bikes Together To Get That Figure Or If They Clocked The Guy In Front Of Me First, They Didnt Like That But Hey, Thats Motorcycle Profiling Dammit, Well They Let Me Go Because They Knew They Were Wrong, Well They Must Have Seen Me Turn Onto My Street, Sure Enough They Followed Me, As I Pulled Into The Driveway There Was My Friend Waiting For Me And Sure Enough The Cops Behind Me, Well They Got Him. Unfortunately My So Called Friend Thought I Ratted Him Out, How Was I Supposed To Know He Was Gonna Go To My House, He Just Took Off When I Stopped,, Am I In The Wrong?

If he was really a friend, he would have stopped when you did.

+1. What he did was worse than his accusations of you ratting him out. Skullman, your so called friend, does he still ride (I'm hoping not)?

A real friend would tell you that you don't need to capitalize every word.
