I used to drive a truck so I have been pulled over many many many times, usually for equipment reason, checking for overweight........ In a car, probably 8 times. On a bike, never (knocking on wood).

8 in the car, 0 on the bike(knock on wood). Ticketed twice only one was points though, the other "stopping in a no stop zone" right next to my high school.

Pullovers ... a few times back when I lived in Los Angeles, usually for youthful stupidity. Since moving to Europe, I've never been pulled over for a violation (over here, you see a red flash, and you know you'll be getting a letter in a week or two), but I do occasionally run into a traffic control where they close the road and check every car for alcohol, seat belt usage, or other things. Last week, they waved me through a control because they were looking for people with dogs in their car - to be sure that they paid their dog-tag taxes.

Yes, over here you pay "tag" taxes for each dog.

In my town, for example, the first dog costs CHF 100 (about US$77), and the second dog CHF 60 (US$46). If you have a kennel for several dogs, it cost CHF 200 (US$154) per year.

Each town sets their own dog taxes...

Twice on the bike.

When I had my Harley, I had the overloud straight pipes (see another thread) and was pulled over by a local saying my bike was too loud. Ok, prove it. He said my straight pipes were illegal. 1. I had baffles in them 2. Prove it. He then pulled a steel rod out of his cruiser and was going to stick it into my (don't go there...dirty) exhaust. I said, "stick it in there and you bought the bike." That frightened him enough to just check my vitals only...license, registration, insurance, and inspection. Got off with a warning.

Second time, was riding with a small group of renegades (first and only time I rode with them). One of them was wearing a non DOT appoved lid. We had helmet laws then. Riding down I-81 and the lights come on. We weren't even exceeding the speed limit, we were getting ready to exit. A trooper pops out of his cruiser and heads straight for the skid lid. The trooper has words with the rider (I was at the back so couldn't hear) and takes his lid. Now he is stuck with no helmet at all. Well, he calls a buddy for a helmet and we proceed to the nearest courthouse. Get this, he goes straight to the magistrates office and sues the trooper for stealing his property! Having 8 witnesses to the fact that the trooper confiscated his lid, he won the suit. The trooper had to return the lid, pay a fine, and got suspended for 10 days. The rider also, got out of the ticket because the trooper never showed up for the hearing.

I've lived a couple places in the US that did this... not sure if they still do. All dogs had to be 'licensed' - but the fee was not nearly so high as there.

Many years ago, I met a really cute CHP officer. Damn, she was hot. In great shape, dark brown eyes, just perfect .... except that she was a lesbian.
