Going too fast into a corner, forcing yourself to brake deep into a turn. - 4 basic steps for making a turn are Slow, Look, Press & Roll. Putting your feet out before coming to a complete stop. - Never thought you could ride yourself over with your own bike, think again. Not squaring the handlebars to the chassis when you come to a stop. - Prevent it - look straight ahead while you come to a stop. Having low eyes. - Constantly scan the situation around you. Not using the front brake enough, if at all. - Front brake on most bikes provides the majority of stopping power. Using the "two-finger" method offront braking. - This method should be left to dirt riding and competition. Using poor lane position when you're on a group ride. - Staggered riding formation gives all riders maximum visibility and maneuvering room. |
