no, that is usually one of the things I check before starting any ride.

Something happened similar to my friend the other night. His clutch lever fell off (2004 CBR600RR) during a ride. The pivot pin lost the bolt on the bottom somehow and the pressing in and out of the lever unscrewed the bolt. Wasn't too big an issue; the lever didn't FALL off. We ended up taking a small licence plate bolt to hold on the clutch until we were home.

Uh, no. Never happened to me, but I bet you have a new appreciation for your rear brake now though.

How can you not notice it missing? That is one thing that has never happened to me. But with my luck....where's some wood? (knock, knock)

Not happened to me, but happened to a friend I was out with last year.
We were coming up to a roundabout fastish and he pulled the brake lever and it fell off!

I wondered why he was going in so hot, didn't realise what happened, anyway he made it round.

Glad to see you survived ok Dale.

yes, the rear brake is now my good friend that i was neglecting before. i'm guessing the same thing happend with my brake lever as your friends clutch lever the bottom nut fell off and then the squizing of the brake lever unscrewed the bolt. now i have to wait a seven to ten days before i can ride the Kat again. however this did enspire me to check all of the bolts on my bike to make sure nothing else was going to fall off.

Checking bolts and nuts is something I need to do on a more regular basis. I do check my tires for wear and pressure daily though.

Its 106 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hey, psycho, we're not getting back together. Now get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.

I once got home and my right rear turn signal was flopping around, the bolt that holds it on had fallen out. It was a weird bolt too, I had to go to a dealer and dig through their random bolt bin with the guy to find a replacement. Need to put some locktite on that stuff

Went to down shift once on the freeway off-ramp and realized that the shift peg had fallen off. This was on my HD. It was a big hunk of chrome. It had damaged vehicles behind me. I went nutso on the locktite after that because I felt guilty because two windshields were destroyed.

Stuff falls off. It happens. But a front brake lever is pretty darned scary. Glad you're OK.
