Well, I seem to be getting every possible rider lesson all at once. I've been riding about six months, and already I've experienced more than some people I know who've been riding for a decade.
My bike saw something shiny in the road, so it used the rear tire to pick it up and take it home. I didn't get even close to home, didn't even get onto the freeway before it went flat (thankfully). The sound was unmistakable. A very distinct *fump*. About a quarter mile later, I felt the rear end getting a bit loose, like I was riding a sofa. At the next stop light, I got off the bike to check. Sure enough, rear tire was about half gone. Well, not even to the next stop light, it went totally flat and WOOHOOO, that was like riding a fish. Bike went allll over the lane as I had to cut some %%%%% off cuz he wouldn't acknowledge my blinker and my repeated looks back at the front of his apparently superior SUV. Well, I dove in front of him in order to make the parking lot.
So I got lucky I was riding slowly and had an easy escape, but man, it's almost impossible to keep the bike upright and straight when a tire goes. Thing wants to flop all over the place. Scary stuff.
