I am planning on taking a long ride later this summer. Aobut 1300-1400 miles round trip. I have my own list of basics. I have my route planed, practically memorized. I am going from Northwest GA, near Chattanooga, TN. to Shanksville,PA the crash site memorial of United Flight 93. I may be overly optomistic, but I plan on riding all the way in one long day to my destination. Thats 620 miles I figure about 12-14 hours. I figure a desent rain suit is a must, spare bulbs and maybe a can of fix a flat. I really hate the stuff, "BUT" I have needed it, and had it in the past. I have a list of all my bike dealerships along the way, and my insurance comes with roadside assistance. Water, snack foods, day and nightime glasses, and a quart of oil. Like I said I would like to get some suggestions from those who have taken road trips before. So far my longest day trip has been about 400, for this trip I will get a gel pad for the seat. So any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and ride safe. Oh I have posted a similar post in the Long Road forum so if you see it twice I am just trying to get as many "eyes on" the question as possible. Thanks Hoop... |
