Default DAMN I DIDNT SEE THAT DOG!

SO THERE I WAS DOIN 60 DOWN A HILL WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN WHAM! NEXT THING I KNOW IM SKIDDING ON PAVEMENT. AFTER ABOUT FIFTY FEET I HIT A CURB AND STOOD UP. NOT EVEN CHECKIN MYSELF I START CHASING MY BIKE DOWN. AFTER ANOTHER FIFTY FEET IT STOPS. OIL ALL OVER, SMALL BITS OF PLASTIC EVERYWHERE. BLOOD SOAKED CLOTHES . IT LOOKED LIKE A WARZONE.

AFTER A QUIK EVALUATION I HAD ALOT OF ROAD RASH AND A BROKEN WRIST. MY BIKE SUFFERED THE MOST WITH A TRASHED LEFT FAIRING, A BROKEN OIL CASE COVER, BROKEN MIRROR, BROKEN FOOT PEG, ROAD RASH UNDERNEATH SEAT, BROKEN FRONT TIRE GAURD AND BENT FORKS. NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT .

TURNS OUT I DIDNT KILL THE DOG BUT IM SURE ITS LIMPIN AROUND PRETTY GOOD IF ITS NOT DEAD YET THEN SOON HOPEFULLY .

IT WAS A BRAND NEW 04 KATANA GSX600FK4 WITH ALMOST 2000 MILES ON IT. NOW I NEED TO FIND A PLACE TO BUY A LEFT FAIRING FOR CHEAP. AS WELL AS THE OIL COVER AND VARIOUS MINOR PARTS.
IF YOU HAVE THESE PARTS OR KNOW WHERE I COULD GET THEM THEN PLEASE LET ME KNOW.... THANX CODY[/b]

He's completely freaked out, hence the caps.

Dude at least it was only a dog...could have been a person or a car...and what do you mean you didn't see it????

Well, at least it was a nasty lesson in reality. If it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger.

I'm sorry to hear about your bike. At least you were able to walk away from it though. That's something to be thankful for.

You mean the fact that he used "that" in the place of "who"? :rollypolly:

I second the jacket. If that woulda happened at 70 mph, you coulda been rashed BAD. PLus, you can pick up some cool jackets. THere was this one place that made some nice leather jackets. the kind that you'd buy just to wear, and they also provided protection!

Ouch,
Sorry to hear that, glad your ok, I love bikes but i am sadden that no one has any compashion for the poor dog. Hes probably still suffering and will die soon, I would kill the person who ran my dog over and had no regard to look for him or attempt to see if he was around and needed help. After you looked out for urself of course, after you found yourself to be ok then help should be attented to the dog imo. Guess its just the kind of person i am : /

Actually, John, I was thinking the same thing! Especially the part about skinning the operator that didn't have enough compassion (or respect) to at least let me know they had hit my pooch.

I'm already in a couple of useless "disagreements" on the board right now, so I figured I'd let that one go.

i wasnt ever against gear, just against wearing tons and tons of it. like pants, boots, gloves, and a whole racing suit just to go down the road. i think gear is unnessecary if you are going under 35.

A month or so ago. I rounded a corner on a country road near the house and saw a deer standing in the other lane, about to cross in front of me. Instinct told me to not only slow down, but stop. She crossed the road, paused, then started trotting again, just as three little ones came out of the weeds behind her and crossed.

Phew!!

Soad, do you remember the pics of Gixxerdale when he crashed on his bicycle? He was going 35mph...

The point of gear, and the same thing for seatbelts, is especially to save your skin and ass at LOW speeds.

If you crash at 60 mph, your gonna get hurt whether you have gear or not. Sure gear will help at those speeds too but you gonna get hurt.

Sup,
I agree, at high speeds there is a HUGE chance you will get hurt somehow, My brother got blown over at 75 doing a wheelie and had a jacket and helment on, one of those mesh jackets with all the extra padding and his upper body didnt get a scratch but his lower body where he was wearing jeans looked sick. He had road rash on out side of his leg about the size of a football. Other then that we rode home. Oh yea, and his bike(04 Gsxr 1000, Gorgerous bike black and siler) only recieveed minor scratch on the back of the tail where he 12 oclocked it. It was nice contrast to see what happens with 1 part of his body that had gear and the other part which didnt have gear looked like. Gear>everything else.
