I figured with gas at $4 a gallon, and the fact that I have essentially parked the car for my 80 mile round trip to work, I would watch the video.

Highly recommended! It has reminded me of what I already knew, and just chose to ignore. In other words, I'm riding safer. Now, I'm thinking of attending the MSF advanced rider course.

Great video. If everybody would just pay attention to whats going on it would be alot better, I love riding my bike-mainly commuting and errands- but always try to watch what im doing and not do anything stupid and even so still to many close calls for my comfort. people just neeed to pay more attention to whats going on out there

"Ride like you're invisible" is the proper approach, but not always possible....that's why you always make sure you have a ESCAPE PLAN.

My head is always on a swivel. At a redlight..thru an intersection...even on the open road checking the sides of the road etc.
These riders that put both feet down at a redlight...the ones that are sitting there with arms crossed and out of gear. I see them giving a cage a chance.
Yeah it seems like to much data input to enjoy the road but i feel better about riding when I am in full awareness of my surroundings.

Default Every motorcyclist should watch this

HI, guys I think about Every motorcyclist should watch this, I was thinking about posting my article on this subject in the Safety Tips section of this Blog, however, I decided to post my article in the Biker Laws section, because what you do could result in serious legal ramifications to you. This is however, a cross-over issue regarding legal and motorcycle safety. his also goes for the 16 year old school girl on her cell phone. If you do not know this fact, than you should not be riding a motorcycle.

A very sobering reminder. About 80% of the riders I see out on the road are only wearing a helmet due to California law, the rest of their gear includes tank tops, shorts, tennis shoes, etc...
Due to the cost of gas many folks are turning towards two wheel transportation trying to save a buck but are clueless to what the consequences may be if and when they go down, others just plain out think only uncool wusses wear gear. Sure it feels good to feel the wind on your body but take road rash for example... Cleaning the dirt and gravel in the E.R. from areas that used to be covered with flesh, then the long, painful healing process. It is then too late when you realize wearing protective gear isn't all that uncool after all.
During the summer months there are ways to stay cool to a certain extent but a little discomfort sure beats what the other options may be.
It is always smart to wear ATGATT and be aware to your surroundings... And enjoy the ride!!!

Good video, hits home the message for every rider to ride within there capabilities and to pay attention at all times, after all it only takes a split second laps of concentration or some car driver not to notice you to turn a fun day into a nightmare for you and all the people who love you.allways stay 1 step ahead of the game and have a good contingencie plan and try not to ride so fast that you put yourself in danger.Observe,Obey,Pay Attention and Allways-Allways Expect the Un-expected.

Very well put. I can identify with the guy who rode for 38 years without a ticket or accident, I've been riding about 32, though I've had minor stuff, no tickets that stuck (that's another story lol...) I feel extremely lucky. I know I'm skilled but there still is a fair amount of luck involved.
