a used smaller performance bike,

ok, let's use a few guidelines.

-pay close attention to scratches, every scratch on the outside of the bike is a result of reckless and tough driving by the operator.
- check the oil, if the nimrod wasn't smart enough to change it right before he sold it, did he ever do any maintenance?
-check the tire and the chain, I test drove a bike (once) that had a beat up tire and a rusty chain. Had the owner put a new chain and tire on it (total cost of $200) could have sold the bike easily and quickly.
