| Ok, there I am riding to town. About 8:30a or so I doing a blistering 15-20 MPH out of my driveway (did I mention I live in a rural area??) I get out of the drive speeding up on the GRAVEL road that leads to my house. I notice something out of the corner of my eye in the woodline. About the time I get a good focus on it, a coyote bolts out headed straight for my footpeg. Now I'm thinking to myself...... self whatcha' gonna do now?? Then I hear the thud and when I look behind me this thing is limping off into the woods on the other side of the road. Now I know that I should be thankful it was not a deer or something bigger, however, when you are a newbie rider it's an experience I shall not soon forget!!! I guess that goes to show that keeping a sharp eye out is not just for traffic areas, it can happen at anytime anyplace. Even in the middle of the woods leaving your driveway!! Definitely reminded me to always be ready and alert. Ride Safe out there and Stay alert... |

| Yeah, I had a dog come out of the grass on a tight county road a couple years back. It was right as I'd had the bright idea to exceed the posted speed limit briefly by about 40 mph. D'oh!! Wasn't but by the grace of science that I missed it... or it missed me.

| I was cruising back home from work Monday night on our country road near my house when I saw a flash and heard a thump on my helmet. Then I realized a bat had hit my helmet. The bat must have been in mid turn or something.

| Tagged a skunk once with my 78 GS750. I didn't run over him, but I must have snagged him with my foot peg. The tail end of my bike, and one of my boots got mildly scented, and I mean mildly. Thank goodness. Don't know what happen to the little "squirt".

| On the Georgia coast, we would occasionally run over mother nature's own speedbumps, also known as alligators, when driving in a car. I never hit one one a motorcycle. I hope I never do. It might just piss the alligator off.

| Wow. Coyotes, dogs, skunks, snakes, bats, bees, alligators... None of these things are a danger to me when I'm in my car. Just more reasons why good training and good skills are needed if you wish to be a healthy, happy rider. Newbies out there, take heed.
