Nope, no problem. If you buy motorcycle gloves, they will actually improve your control and grip of the levers, since they don't get sweaty and oily like your hands do!

So its more of a protection from small annoyances rather than a "MUST HAVE"?

I have some, but rarely use them. This is starting to convince me to wear them, but how else can they protect you? Just wondering if its only for small issues (bugs/rocks etc).

For me the protection from small annoyances is secondary. While it may be the more common benefit, which is a very good thing, the primary reason for me wearing gloves is to minimize injury to my hands should I go down, even in a minor incident. I had been shopping for a pair and the annoyance was a good reminder/motivator to stop putting off the purchase.

Not that this does you much good, but that wasn't a bee. A bee can only sting once and then it dies. More likely you had a wasp, hornet or yellow-jacket in your helmet.

I wear gloves to protect my hands, both during the ride and if I fall off.

For me, when riding without using gloves, my fingers get numb from the wind blowing against it while riding. When using gloves, the warmth prevents my fingers from going numb, so I have better control. And I hate it when it rains and the gloves are off... damn those little needles jabbing into my hands...

Probably the first reaction if you do go down is to put your hands out to brace yourself. The concrete would grind your fingers into nubs in no time.

Speaking of gloves , I knew a guy who only wore one glove. He thought he was Bad.

Ouch! Gloves for me all the time, summer I wear the perforated ones, never could understand the fingerless glove people wear.

I think the gloves without the tips were made for those riders that needed a way to express themselves whenever they had near misses with automobile drivers... you know... the "one finger salute"...

i thought they needed it to pick their nose in public and see how far they can jam their finger up there...

So, here's just one more reason for gloves, like there need be more.
On my way into work this morning at about 60mph, no one in front of me, light traffic going the other direction on a 2 lane highway, I get a very brief glimpse of a rather large object (about the size of a lime) just before it smacks me in the knuckle of my right pointer finger. Hurt like hell. I look down and see a hole in my leather glove from the impact and some whitish liquid residue on the glove. Not sure what it was but my knuckle is about twice as big as it should be and has a nice (thankfully little) hole at about 2 degrees below TDC. Without gloves I'd be looking at bone right now.
